he started playing. He is a personality. He is likeable. The others are

    HA HA HA,
    Go tease your mother!
Pele is good, but he is no god.

    Pele is just good????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA ...
This comment shows how much you understand about soccer. If Pele is just good then how about Maradona, Platini, Zico, Garrincha, Zizinho, Puskas, Di Stefano, etc..? They
are probably just shi.. for you.
    Marcio.
Baggio, Maradona, and Ronaldo. Top three of all time.
    None better than Steven Gerrard.

    LMAO Be Gone child.

Unfortunately for Italy, to compare Baggio to Pele' (but also to Maradona, or Cruyff and the likes) is simply ridiculous.
Baggio is a very talented player, with excellent ball skills. That's it.
He did not achieve anything special, besides winning UEFA cup last year.
He can be stopped by a good team defense, and many times even by a good, smart and though (since he still tends to disappear from the game if it gets phisical, even if less often than he used to) single player.
He is not a champion, in the sense that he too often fails to lead his
team and to elevate its team's level of play like he is able to do
in some occasions (IMO an essential component to be a champion,
or, if you will, a mega-champion like the ones above, is to be *consistent* in playing at a stellar level). Also in his thriumphant season last year,
he played many bad games and at the half of the season he was openly and widely
criticized by media and fans. He recovered in the 2nd half to give Juventus the cup and to play wall for the National team, though.
I don't think he ever will achieve the status of one of the great guys
above. He will be remembered just as the player of the year in 1993 and maybe (hopefully for us Italians) as the star of USA 1994.
I think he is hugely overrated and the post I am replying to is an evidence of this.
    So long.
