Stupid for themselves, stupid for Liverpool.

Our R16 options as they currently now are Bayern, Porto, PSG, and RM. Without that Spurs winner, Frankfurt would have topped that group and been in the mix.

That said, PSG and Benfica are tied on 11 points and PSG is away to Juve, while Benfica is away to Haifa. Juventus could do us a huge favor.

I doubt the players even processed the permutations as the group was in a constant state of flux throughout the 90 minutes.

A victory was the only outcome that confirmed survival in Europe.

Well yeah, but the way it went down...

It had evidently been a deliberate choice by OM's coaching staff to not inform their players on the pitch about the result
in the other game so as not to distract them from chasing a win - a sound idea, considering that a draw would indeed have
eliminated them altogether anyway, had Sporting managed to equalise in Lisbon.

But - the Sporting game had ended a good five minutes before the end of Marseille's match, and what followed was a
complete failure of communications. Suddenly a draw was a guaranteed decent consolation prize, worth at least a couple of
million Euros, but the message never filtered through to the players.

Igor Tudor was tragicomical in his absolute helplessness on the sidelines, actually running a couple of metres onto the pitch
while trying to incite his completely disinterested defenders to track back. And it wasn't even a desperate long ball launched
into the box that undid them, but Guendouzi's lame throw-in/short pass attempt.

Yes JJ as in the new Juve logo. And yes PSG could eliminate JJ from Europa quite easily, though not watching that match, so cant say just how easy it would be.
Maybe one of Juve's best performances of the season so far (also nice to have a packed stadium, for a change), but a moment of brilliance by Messi (very quiet so far) or Mbappe can change things very quickly
A little bit of breathing room for Juve, as Benfica take the lead in Haifa. Of course this means that PSG slips to second place...

PSG back in front, but Benfica also extend their lead to 3-1
    1. PSG 2. Benfica 3. Juve 4. Maccabi

Total number of away goals in the group first, the only role they still play in UEFA competitions.

I believe Benfica have done it.

    LOL

Benfica has really impressed me in their two games against Juve. They have a young, talented and hungry team. PSG out in the R16 again?
