Queen Elizabeth II 1926 -2022 !
King Charless III now on the throne.
Football will still play on!

The FA Premier League will almost certainly cancel matches... to play
on while the country is officially in mourning could look
disrespectful. (Yes, we know the PL is not about the actual football or
its fans, but they have to show a bit of respect and pretend it's not
just about pleasing broadcasters and making money!)
I reckon either this weekends fixtures will be postponed or the
following weekend's fixtures will...

No Dave, not that far. This weekend's football fixtures have already
been cancelled. While the Queen's funeral is next week, so those games
will almost certainly go too.

I meant old MD7 will have to be pushed into 2023.
MD8 as well in honour for the mourning process to continue.
Whether UEFA can push their games off is another matter.

I'm not sure UEFA will see the need to do so. Britain's QEII didn't
reign over the majority of countries affiliated with UEFA. So most of
UEFA's member associations probably couldn't care less one way or the
other that she died.
Who knows though? <shrug>

Not a chance. That they observed a minute's silence before/during each
of their Thursday matches was
extraordinary enough. The only head of state for which they ever did
that before was Nelson Mandela.

extraordinary enough. The only head of state for which they ever did that before was Nelson Mandela.
due to police resources stretching thin with the Queen's body lying in state in Edinburgh until Tuesday.
But what's more than a little controversial is that due to those manpower constraints they've decided to not
allow away fans to attend the match, with Rangers likewise being told no away fans allowed in the return match
in Naples, 'as a matter of sporting fairness' (UEFA quote).
I guess Napoli would have brought a couple of thousand with them, and while their tickets will be refunded
I doubt flights and accomodation will. So they might go regardless? And spend a day in Glasgow with nothing
to do? With too little police around? What could possibly go wrong?

Continuing with the theme, Arsenal vs PSV on Thursday has been called
off. Not out of respect,
but due to lack of police. PSV away are being considered high-risk.
