    There is a new useful feature for reading the Usenet posts in Google Groups. The vast majority of newsgroup members use GROUPS.GOOGLE.COM to post and read on the Internet pioneering service, Usenet.

    One drawback of the Google service, very useful otherwise, is the default font. It is a proportional font (of variable-width, that is). However, initially Usenet was written and shown in a monospace font.

    It is quite easy and simple to add this useful feature to two of your browsers: Chrome and Firefox. Just read this axiomatic thread:

    It's true the vast majority of spam on Usenet comes from people who
    post via Google Groups, but there are some genuine users of Google
    Groups who are contributing to keeping Usenet alive... so it's
    something Usenet just has to tolerate.

    How ridiculous! Netizens STILL pay for newsreader services, while Google Groups (GG) is FREE! Not to mention, GG is clearly superior to any newsreader.

    For one, GG keeps a user’s computer CLEAN. You simply don’t open threads/posts from authors you hold in low regards. The posts in GG can be intelligently formatted, too. You just save a thread link and all materials are kept by Google Groups forever.

    Google Groups is the best service offered by Google. The Google Search has been deteriorating for years now. Given the ascent of AI chatbots, the Internet search as we know it now may even die.

    Hopefully, Google Groups will survive. Google is notorious for offering free services, only to discontinue them after a few years. It happened on more than 25 occasions, according to ZDNet.
