The worst is yet to come, axiomatics. Google Groups (GG) had
already imposed hurdles to posting via web: reCAPTCHA. The spammers
took “countermeasures”. They moved their operations massively to
Usenet. Them spammers open multiple accounts and send multiple
spamming messages via Usenet.
The spammers automate their operations with the help of spambots.
No way can Usenet fight automated spamming. Usenet is DOOMED!

Whilst, in the real world... people with newsreaders use filters and
a kill-file to stop anything they don't want to see reaching their
newsgroup feed.
Of course, once you only needed an <@google.groups.com> filter and it
stopped everything. Going forward it might mean different filters and
more specific use of a kill-file... but as it is usually just ticking
a box and clicking apply, it's not a big deal.
