That didn't last long. Australia opened the score in the first
half with Foord (classic counterattacking goal, nice finish), and
since then Denmark has had a lot of possession and zero ideas.
Raso makes it 2-0 in the second half.
I thought Denmark looked the better team for the first 20 minutes
or so too. Any idea what went wrong after that?
It turned out that they wasn't the better team! ;-)
So why did they look better for 20 minutes?
A game doesn't last for twenty minutes... it's only a fraction of the
game. No point huffing and puffing in the first twenty minutes if you
don't score and you then run out of steam in the second half! Football is played over 90(+) minutes.
Denmark were found wanting when it came to the final third. Nice slick
passing around the middle counts for nothing if you don't put the ball in
to the net. That's why I generally ignore possession stats too, it counts
for nothing if you don't do something with it.
