    Goalkeepers

    Weltklasse (World Class)

    None

    Internationale Klasse (International Class)

    1. Gregor Kobel / SUI / Borussia Dortmund (IK-1)

    8 Janis Blaswich / GER / RB Leipzig (NK-9)
    9. Koen Casteels / BEL / VfL Wolfsburg (IK-5)

No Manuel Neuer on the list, obviously, but also no Yann Sommer. To add
insult to injury, Kicker usually publish an additional short paragraph explaining why certain players in their opinion haven't made the grade, and they don't mention him even there.

    19. Philipp Lienhart / AUT / SC Freiburg (NK-14)

A plethora of players, but previous #1 Upamecano didn't make the list at all. Come on, even Schlotterbeck is on it!

    4. Jonas Hector / GER / 1. FC Köln (NK-9)

    Five players. That's it.

No Alphonso Davies ('too many mistakes'), Borna Sosa ('played his part in condemning Stuttgart
to the relegation play-offs'), Ramy Bensebaïni ('liability'), Mitchell Weiser ('facilitated too many
goals against'), Christian Günter ('lost his energy'), David Raum ('disappointing'), João Cancelo

Most notably missing: Leon Goretzka ('had an emblematic last matchday, as Tuchel took him
off 14 minutes after having subbed him on when Bayern urgently needed a goal').

Barreiro is only the second Luxembourger ever on this list, former Kaiserslautern and Gladbach
centre-back Jeff Strasser twice made it into the 'Blickfeld' category in the 2000's.

remaining (gone missing have Lindstrøm and Kamada).

Three at the top that you'd have expected to be there earlier, and more consistently.

    No Gregoritsch? It's a sham.
More serious omissions: Marcus Thuram, Youssoufa Moukoko,
André Silva or Timo Werner. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was injured
and Bayern might have missed him more than would have appeared likely.

Also interesting that Behrens is one of just three Union Berlin players that made the list, yet they will play Champions League.

    Germans Abroad

    Top Leagues

    Weltklasse (World Class)

İlkay Gündoğan / Manchester City (IK)

    Internationale Klasse (International Class)

Marc-André Ter Stegen / Barcelona (IK)
Antonio Rüdiger / Real Madrid (IK)
Toni Kroos / Real Madrid (IK)
Pascal Groß / Brighton & Hove Albion (NK)

    Nationale Klasse (National Class)

    Bernd Leno / Fulham (-)
    Malick Thiaw / Milan (-)
    Kai Havertz / Chelsea (IK)

The last time Gündoğan (or any German abroad) was considered World Class
    was in Winter 2020/21.

Pascal Groß has been on the periphery of these lists for many years, but this is the first time he's been, deservedly, ranked international class - at the age
of 32. Which means that time is running out if he ever wants to be capped
by the German National Team (but he's half a year younger than Gündoğan).

    _

    Average Leagues

    Herausragend ('Excellent')

    Lars Unnerstall / Twente (H)
    Jordan Beyer / Burnley (-)
Yann Aurel Bisseck / AGF (A)
Hany Mukhtar / Nashville SC (H)

    Auffällig ('Conspicuous')

    Timon Wellenreuther / Feyenoord (-)
Jordan Torunarigha / KAA Gent (A)
Eduard Löwen / St. Louis City SC (-)
Lukas Görtler / FC St. Gallen (H)
    Max Meyer / Luzern (A)
Lukas Podolski / Górnik Zabrze (A)
    Khaled Narey / PAOK (A)
    Patrick Pflücke / Servette (-)
    Andreas Voglsammer / Millwall (-)
John Yeboah / Śląsk Wrocław (-)

Has Yann Aurel Bisseck really been 'the best defender in the Danish League'?

    Germans Abroad

    Top Leagues

    Weltklasse (World Class)

İlkay Gündoğan / Manchester City (IK)

    Internationale Klasse (International Class)

Marc-André Ter Stegen / Barcelona (IK)
Antonio Rüdiger / Real Madrid (IK)
Toni Kroos / Real Madrid (IK)
Pascal Groß / Brighton & Hove Albion (NK)

    Nationale Klasse (National Class)

    Bernd Leno / Fulham (-)
    Malick Thiaw / Milan (-)
    Kai Havertz / Chelsea (IK)

The last time Gündoğan (or any German abroad) was considered World Class was in Winter 2020/21.

Pascal Groß has been on the periphery of these lists for many years, but this
is the first time he's been, deservedly, ranked international class - at the age
of 32. Which means that time is running out if he ever wants to be capped
by the German National Team (but he's half a year younger than Gündoğan).

Has Yann Aurel Bisseck really been 'the best defender in the Danish League'?
