Two women face charges of kidnapping and felonious assault and
police may be seeking a male suspect after a woman was found
Sunday night unconscious, naked and beaten on a Dayton street.
Cassidy D. Lake, 22, and Jennifer Lynn Rice, 40, were arrested
Monday and are being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Lake, of Dayton, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to one count of
felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping and one count of
rape during her arraignment in Dayton Municipal Court. Lake’s
bond was set at $100,000, and she has a preliminary hearing
scheduled for Dec. 8.
Rice, of Huber Heights, pleaded not guilty to one count of
felonious assault and one count of kidnapping. Her bond also was
set at $100,000 and a preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 8.
Police responded to an area near Wheatley Avenue after a 911
caller told a dispatcher that there was a naked woman with a
rope tied around her body.
“There’s blood everywhere…I don’t know how she got there, she’s
just there,” the caller said. “She’s pleading for someone to
help her.”
The 35-year-old victim — who was transported to Miami Valley
Hospital — told a Dayton police detective she was driven by
Jennifer Rice to a detached garage at 132 Fountain Avenue,
according to court documents.
The victim said that in the garage were Lake and “JP." The
victim said the man shut the garage door and began to punch her
in the head several times and knocked her to the floor.
The male suspect stood above the victim and told Lake and Rice
to “make her bleed or you’ll bleed,” according to the affidavit.
Court documents say the victim said she was struck in the back
of the head with a hard object — possibly a piece of wooden or
metal door frame — and that she lost consciousness.
The woman said in the complaint that when she awoke, the man was
pouring a thick unknown fluid over her face and body, making it
difficult for her to breathe. The man then told Rice and Lake to
take off the victim’s clothes and bind her, according to the
affidavit.
The victim was found about a third of a mile away from the
garage on Fountain Avenue.
The male suspect has a criminal record that includes a
conviction for having weapons while under disability for which
he received community control. As part of a plea deal, the man
had charges dismissed including possession of cocaine,
possession of heroin and a drug paraphernalia offense.
A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on Nov. 28 for
violating his probation and court records show the man’s
whereabouts have been unknown since Nov. 15.
A court document indicates the man should be arrested and held
without bail, saying: “(The suspect) is wanted by police in
connection with continued felony activity.”
