And of course before singing this you make (and hold) the Birdmen sign: Hold thumb and forefinger together on both hands to make the "A-OK" sign, then raise elbows up and twist wrists so that you can catch the pinky and ring fingers of each hand under your chin. Continue raising elbows and rotating wrists until you the thumb-forefinger circles encircle your eyes. (It's a lot easier if you're young and limber, or at least if you practice it a lot.)

Does anyone have the words to the song:

"Up in the Air, Junior Birdmen"?

Up in the air Junior Birdmen
Up in the air upside down
Up in the air Junior Birdmen
With your noses to the ground.

When you hear that big announcement
That you can win your wings of tin
Then you will know Junior Birdmen
That it is time to send your box tops in.

For it takes four box tops, three bottle bottoms, and one thin dime.

[An infantry song from WWII that made its way into Scout Camp????]

    I seem to remember singing:
Up in the air, Junior Birdmen
Up in the air, flying high
Up in the air, Junior birdmen
Flap your wings up in the sky!
Like Dan mentioned, you make the birdman mask, and on the last
line you flap your elbows up and down for wings. Perhaps this
was a variant native to Nebraska church camps.
