(META) Got a bit of a scare recently!

First of all, keep your eyes on the ACE podcast schedule, because sometime
in the not too distant future there is going to be an episode of great
interest to this community.
Second, I sat down at my computer, opened a terminal window and typed:
morgan:~ dalthoff$ rtin -A
As expected, rtin launched, and it authenticated against
eternal-september.org and showed my meager list of newsgroups. I scrolled
down to rec.roller-coaster and hit [RETURN].
Error: group not found on this server.
What...wait...huh?! eternal-september is still active but rec.* is gone?!
I checked Google Groups to make sure that indeed my old stomping grounds is still active, and thought, "Shpx. Now I have to find another nntp server."
A week later, I came back for another visit, after figuring out that it was just an authentication problem. Whew.
I don't come here several times a day like I once did, but I still pop in
once in a while. I'm so happy to see that this community is still at least
a little bit active.
I need to come back here more often.
