The NAB Leadership Foundation has begun accepting applications for its 2023 Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP).

The six-month program provides participants with skills and connections
through a series of monthly virtual learning sessions in an effort to help applicants build a successful career in broadcasting. The foundation is accepting applications for the technical training fellowship program
    through June 15.

TAP touches on topics that include radio broadcasting, networking, IT fundamentals, cloud and infrastructure systems and NextGen TV. Graduates of
the program will receive a certified broadcast technologist certification
from the Society of Broadcast Engineers along with AWS cloud practitioner training and certification.

The program concludes with the participants attendance at the 2023 NAB
Show. The foundation recently announced the graduates of the 2022 TAP
program during last month’s NAB Show in Las Vegas. A total of 14 students from colleges across the nation graduated as part of the 2022 class.

These talented students are ready to join the broadcasting industry and
fill the need for a more technical workforce,” said NAB Foundation
President Michelle Duke. “The industry is rapidly changing and this group
is ready to support technical teams within the broadcast industry.

Sonos Introduces New Voice Control Feature

    Posted: 13 May 2022 10:34 AM PDT https://www.radioworld.com/uncategorized/sonos-introduces-new-voice-control-feature

Sonos has introduced its first voice experience, offering users a new way
to control their wireless speakers and sound systems.

According to the company, Sonos Voice Control is the simplest way to
control your music. It works on every voice-capable Sonos speaker and
processes requests entirely on the device. This local processing is meant
to deliver faster response times to users in comparison to the Sonos app.

Following the announcement, Joseph Dureau, vice president of voice
experience at Sonos, said user privacy remains a top priority.

One of the most natural ways to connect to your music is with your voice,
but when we speak to our customers, we hear that privacy concerns mean many
are choosing not to use voice control, said Dureau.

No audio or transcript is sent to the cloud, stored, listened to or read by anyone, said Sonos.

Available on new voice capable products or as a free update for existing customers, Sonos Voice Control is currently compatible with Sonos Radio,
Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Pandora.

Much like Google or Alexa-enabled devices, users just need to say “Hey Sonos” to get started. Voicing the new feature for U.S. customers is actor Giancarlo Esposito, best known for his roles in Breaking Bad, Better Call
Saul and The Mandalorian. More voices will be added over time.

The feature is available in the U.S. June 1 and in France later this year.
The company said additional markets will follow.
