On the same day longtime Tucson morning host Tim Tyler announced he will
retire from Cumulus Media Classic Hits K-Hit 107.5 KHYT on Friday, May 27, Lotus Communications AC 94.9 Mix-FM KMXZ morning hosts Greg Curtis and
Meredith Dunkel announced they will be departing their station on the same
day.
Curtis has been part of the morning show since 2007, mostly alongside Bobby Rich and Mrs. Grant. Dunkel joined the station in May 2017 to replace Rich
as afternoon host and then joined Curtis as Greg Mere in mornings
following the departure of Grant in July 2019.
In making the announcement, the duo noted that it was their decision to end
the show, but they have no intent to leave Tucson. They stated that missing
out on family obligations due to the morning show schedule played a major
part in their decision. Curtis noted that Lotus wanted the duo to stay and
are graciously letting the show continue for a few weeks following the announcement.
Prior to joining KMXZ, Curtis spent time at Hot AC 104.1 The Point KZPT in mornings and then afternoons from 2001 to 2005. He also worked at Oldies
103.3 WODS and Hot AC Mix 98.5 WBMX Boston.
Dunkel also had previous experience in the market co-hosting mornings at
KZPT and afternoons at then sister Rhythmic Oldies Mega 106.3 KGMG in 2004
and 2005. She has also been part of morning shows at KSTP-FM Minneapolis,
KKFR Phoenix, KQBT Austin, and KMGA Albuquerque and has worked on-air at
WTMX Chicago, KTMY Minneapolis, and WLUM Milwaukee.
