https://radioinsight.com/headlines/221091/jvc-broadcasting-announces-new-hires-in-long-island-orlando-fort-walton-beach/
JVC Broadcasting one of America’s largest independent and locally owned broadcast and entertainment companies, just completed a hiring boom and continues to staff the company with radio pros and industry veterans. In January of 2022 JVC began a massive recruitment campaign using its local
radio stations and social media platforms and the response was
overwhelming. JVC announces that is has hired or internally promoted 16
media and entertainment professionals company wide.
“The current radio market is great for employment,” said John Caracciolo President and CEO of JVC. “There was a lot of trepidation for media companies in 2020 and 2021, people wanted to see how things would work out
and if the radio business would bounce back, and it did stronger than ever.
The most important and most rewarding investment an entrepreneur can make isn’t a new client or a cool piece of equipment, Its your team of
employees. I have built this business by surrounding myself with fantastic people who are visionaries and leaders. If all your employees become entrepreneurially minded or leaders in their own right, your organization
will grow even faster. And the coolest thing about this entire recruitment campaign, we did all the outreach using only our local radio station
assets! So yes, RADIO IS WORKING AND RADIO WORKS! added John Caracciolo.

iHeartMedia News/Talk 850 KOA Denver/94.1 K231AA Boulder/K231BQ Golden
morning co-anchor April Zesbaugh has announced she will retire in the
coming months.
Zesbaugh has served as co-anchor of Colorados Morning News since 1996, most recently with Marty Lenz since 2017. Prior to joining KOA, Zesbaugh served
as News Director of 710 KNUS through a collaboration with KCNC-TV and
worked at KUNC Fort Collins and Wyoming Public Radio.
April Zesbaugh, co-host of “Colorado’s Morning News” on iHeartMedia Denver’s KOA 850 AM 94.1 FM, has announced that she will retire in the upcoming months after a distinguished 30-year broadcast journalism career, including 25-years with KOA. Zesbaugh has co-hosted “Colorado’s Morning News” on KOA since 1996, and is one of the longest running news
personalities in Colorado.
“Despite my 2:30 a.m. wake-up call for the last 30-years, I feel very fortunate for every second in front of the KOA microphone,” said Zesbaugh. “It’s time to hang-up my headphones to pursue more family time, play more tennis, travel in our RV and see what it feels like to sleep without an
alarm clock.”
“April is one of the most-recognizable and popular voices in Colorado, and has set a professional standard which has contributed to the success of
KOA,” said Greg Foster, Senior Vice President of Talk Programming for iHeartMedia and Program Director of KOA. “While we will miss our friend and colleague, April has earned the opportunity to enjoy her retirement.”
Zesbaugh is the winner of one national and numerous regional Edward R.
Murrow Awards for journalism excellence by the Radio Television Digital
News Association (RTDNA), as well as countless awards for “Colorado’s Morning News” from the Colorado Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. She has also been an influential member of the Denver community and
has emceed numerous charity events, including those focused on mental
health, Alzheimer’s disease, the challenges of single mothers and animal rescue.
In addition to providing daily breaking news and timely interviews,
Zesbaugh has broadcast live from major events such as anniversaries of
9/11, national political conventions, presidential inaugurations and three Denver Broncos Super Bowls. Zesbaugh has also made national television appearances on CNN, MSNBC and other outlets to discuss Jon Benet Ramsey,
the tragedy at Columbine High School, and the 2005 University of Colorado-Boulder recruitment scandal.
“I’m grateful to Jerry Bell, former News Director of KOA, for hiring me – calling me during my honeymoon to offer me the job – and to the current
News Director, Kathy Walker, and the KOA news team who have been with me
every step of the way in helping to make me a better broadcaster and journalist,” said Zesbaugh. “I’m leaving our listeners in good hands with my co-host, Marty Lenz. He has great news chops and asks really smart questions.”
Prior to joining KOA, Zesbaugh served as news director and an anchor for Denver’s KCNC-TV collaboration with KNUS-AM, and she anchored and reported the news at Wyoming Public Radio in Laramie. A native of Arizona, Zesbaugh started her broadcast career at National Public Radio affiliate KUNC-FM in Greeley, where she graduated with degrees in Journalism and English from
the University of Northern Colorado.

Educational Media Foundation has begun operating Redwood Empire
Stereocasters CHR 106.3 The Beat KJZY Cazadero/Santa Rosa CA with the
station now running the Contemporary Worship Air 1 network.
Owner Gordon Zlot told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, “We’re basically leasing the frequency to the Educational Media Foundation, based in
Rocklin, near Sacramento, and in regards to the CHR brand, We couldn’t get any traction on that front. It was going nowhere for us.”
The Network Affiliation Agreement filed with the FCC shows that EMF will
pay $6800 per month to lease the station starting May 1 under a three year term. The deal can be renewed for two additional terms with the second
from May 2025 to April 2028 at the same monthly rate and the third being a four-year term from May 2028 to April 2032 at $7200 per month. Both will auto-renew unless EMF gives a 120 day cancellation notice.
EMFs K-Love brand originated in the Santa Rosa market and continues to be
heard on 91.9 KLVR Middletown.
The Beat CHR format debuted in July 2019 on 93.7 KJZY in August 2019
running Jamtraxx Media’s club mixed oriented SPiN-FM format. It was moved
to 106.3 in February 2020 and has been running Westwood Ones CHR format
since.

Domain Insight 3/9: Early Possibilities On What May Be Next For 106.1 Philadelphia
Posted: 09 Mar 2022 01:00 PM PST
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/netgnomes/221020/domain-insight-3-9-early-possibilities-on-what-may-be-next-for-106-1-philadelphia/
As iHeartMedias 106.1 WISX Philadelphia enters its second day simulcasting
CHR Q102 WIOQ, we have some early possibilities on what may be next for the station.
Over the past two days, the rumor mill has churned hot and heavy with
different scenarios being heard depending on who you talk to. Creating confusion within the market appears to be the goal right now.
In trying to make light of what Ive heard it appears that the simulcast of
WIOQ is iHeart seeing if they can get one of their competitors to blink
first in a way that would help one of the companys other Philadelphia
stations. Audacy making a quick flip of CHR 96.5 TDY WTDY-FM would help
WIOQ, as would Radio One doing something with low rated Hip Hop 100.3 RB
and Hip Hop WRNB-FM to boost Power 99 WUSL eliminating their direct format competitors and changing the market dynamics.
To that end, three formats have come to the forefront in most of these conversations and there are domains to match.

Julie Slater & Lesley James Join KCSN/KSBR
Posted: 09 Mar 2022 12:43 PM PST
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/221022/julie-slater-lesley-james-join-kcsn-ksbr/
Cal State University Northridge and Saddleback University AAA 88.5 FM KCSN Northridge/KSBR Mission Viejo CA has announced the addition of two new
staffers to its lineup.
Julie Slater will host weekdays from 11am 3pm, allowing PD Marc Mookie
Kaczor to move off-air. Slater is best known for her decade in middays at
92.3 K-Rock WXRK New York from 1996 to 2006 and eight years at 100.3 The
Sound KSWD Los Angeles from 2008 to 2016. Slater previously hosted a
weekend show at KCSN.
Lesley James will host a Saturday show from 12-4pm starting March 19. James currently serves as Co-Director Radio and Streaming Promotion for Hazel
Street Records, but previously spent twelve years at Alternative CD 102.5
WWCD Columbus OH from 2005 to 2017 rising from weekend host to Program
Director during her tenure.
88.5-FM, Southern California’s leading Triple-A (adult album alternative) rock station, is adding two new voices to its lineup — acclaimed radio personalities Julie Slater and Lesley James.
Slater will be taking over the weekday midday slot, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., from Marc “Mookie” Kaczor, allowing him to focus on his duties as the station’s program director. James will anchor the station’s Saturday lineup with a show from noon to 4 p.m. Slater will assume her duties Monday, March
14, while James begins Saturday, March 19.
“This is a huge leap for the station,” Kaczor said. “We’re bringing in two
broadcast professionals who are beloved in the field. Julie and Lesley are outstanding individuals. They’re part of the music scene. They live and
work in our community. And, they love sharing music. It’s a perfect fit! Plus, we’re proud that 88.5 is increasing the gender diversity of the region’s airwaves.”
James, a former radio programmer and DJ in the alternative radio format in Ohio, said she was looking forward to joining 88.5’s roster.
“I am beyond excited to dust off the headphones and join the amazing team
at 88.5 as a weekend on-air talent,” said James, who currently works for Hazel Street Records. “I come from local, independent radio, and can’t believe I get to share my passion again, this time in Los Angeles!”
Slater may be familiar to some 88.5 listeners. In 2017, her show, “Out on a Limb,” aired on Saturday nights at 7 p.m. A popular music broadcaster,
Slater has been on air in both the Los Angeles and New York markets.
“The planets have finally aligned and here we are! Please cue Radiohead’s ‘Everything in its Right Place,’” Slater said. “I’m so excited to be back
at 88.5 and to have an outlet for my music obsession. Looking forward to connecting with listeners and supporting local music – as we (crosses fingers) reopen venues and get back to it.”
General Manager Patrick Osburn welcomed the new additions to the station’s lineup.
“At a time in radio’s history where the commercial broadcast conglomerates are staffing multiple stations and air shifts around the country with the
same on-air personality,” he said, “we are proud to be among the leaders at producing a product that is very diverse, live, and local!”
88.5-FM is a combined effort of California State University, Northridge
(CSUN) and Saddleback College, which began simulcasting as 88.5-FM in
October 2017, linking the Los Angeles County- and Orange County-based
signals. The station’s Triple-A programming is available on the KCSN and
KSBR 88.5 HD1 channels, via the 88.5 app and online at www.885FM.org.
