    As first indicated in our 2/21 Domain Insight, Alpha Media flipped Regional Mexican La Ley 95.7 KLEY-FM Jourdanton/San Antonio and 103.1 KHHL Karnes
    City TX to Tejano as Tejano 95.7 at 11am today.

    The flip to Tejano brings the format back to a full-powered FM signal
    (albeit rimshot) for the first time since 107.5 KXTN-FM flipped to Rhythmic
    AC 107.5 The Vibe KVBH in 2019. The new format competes with Univisions
    1350 KXTN and Claro Communications Radio Jalapeno 1540 KEDA and network of translators. KLEY-FM registered a 0.4 share in the Holiday 2021 Nielsen
    Audio ratings. KXTN had a 0.5, while KEDA does not subscribe to Nielsen.

    NAB Announces 2022 Digital & Engineering Achievement Honorees

    The NAB announced today that Hubbard Radio VP/Digital Strategy Jeremy Sinon will be the recipient of their 2022 Digital Leadership Award, while Xperi Corporation’s Ashruf El-Dinary and Capitol Broadcasting Company’s Peter Sockett will receive Radio and Television Engineering Achievement Awards at this Aprils NAB Show.

    The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced today that Jeremy Sinon, vice president of Digital Strategy for Hubbard Radio, is the
    recipient of the 2022 Digital Leadership Award. Sinon will be recognized at
    the 2022 NAB Show, held April 23–27 in Las Vegas.

    Created in 2015, the Digital Leadership Award honors an individual at a broadcast station, group or network who has had a significant role in transforming a traditional broadcast business to succeed on digital media platforms in a measurable way.

    NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt will present Sinon with the Digital Leadership Award during the NAB Achievement in Broadcasting Awards, held on
    the NAB Show Main Stage on Sunday, April 24 at 4:45 p.m.

    Sinon serves as the vice president of Digital Strategy for Hubbard Radio,
    where he develops strategies and solutions to assist the companys broadcast stations in fully utilizing digital platforms. Sinon conceptualized,
    designed and led a team to build Hubbards robust proprietary streaming platform. Accessible through the web and various individual station mobile apps, this unified platform offers Hubbard listeners an exceptional user experience where they can connect with their favorite station and be
    rewarded for the time they spend listening and interacting. Hubbard
    stations then also have an opportunity to communicate directly with
    audiences via notifications, provide effective marketing for clients and
    build listener databases.

    Sinon also oversees Hubbard’s work in the podcasting space, which has included launching a unique local podcasting app platform. Currently being piloted in Hubbard’s Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., markets, the
    platform is designed to solve the problem of discovery of locally based podcasts.

    A member of a number of different initiatives in the radio industry, Sinon
    is currently the vice chair of the NAB Digital Officers Committee.

    Awards are given to individuals who are nominated by their peers for significant contributions to advancing broadcast engineering.

    NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt will present the Radio and Television Engineering Achievement Awards during a session titled “Hollywood’s ‘Binge
    Times’ OTT Battle and NAB Engineering Awards on Sunday, April 24 at 3 p.m.

    The 2022 Radio Engineering Achievement Award

    Ashruf El-Dinary is senior vice president of Digital Platforms at Xperi Corporation, where he oversees the HD Radio systems engineering teams,
    manages the certification and quality control processes, and represents HD Radio technology standards in International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
    and international regulatory discussions. He currently leads the efforts
    for new broadcast applications, upgrades to emergency alerting, and
    deployment of digital radio solutions internationally.

    El-Dinary has over 20 years of experience in developing HD Radio technology
    and holds a number of patents for innovative digital radio solutions. He previously worked at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics
    Laboratory developing scientific instrumentation in support of space
    research programs and launched solutions on several satellites. He also
    taught signal processing courses at JHU’s Whiting School of Engineering.

    The 2022 Television Engineering Achievement Award

    As the director of Engineering and Operations for Capitol Broadcasting Company’s (CBC) television stations, Peter Sockett is responsible for
    leading and steering the technology needs of CBC and preparing for the
    coming trends affecting broadcasting.

    During his career, Sockett has been instrumental in a total rebuild of
    CBC’s HD technical plant, the launch of the first non-linear HD newsroom, development of workflows for IP-ENG, implementation of Mobile DTV and
    Mobile EAS, creation of the first 4K-HDR documentary produced at a local TV station, the launch of the first commercial, simulcast TV station using the ATSC 3.0 standard, and the launch of local sports channel WNGT.

    Sockett sits on the board of directors for the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and is the chair of the ATSC 3.0 Advanced Emergency
    Alerting Implementation Team. He has earned three Emmy Awards, Broadcasting
    & Cable’s Technical Leadership Award and an Edward R. Murrow award. He is a co-inventor of a patent for geolocation.
