As soon as word got out there was a sniper shooting at residents from a building in Highland Park near Chicago during a 4th of July parade, the WGN radio team sprung into action to cover the breaking news and keep listeners informed.

This weekend the Minnesota Twins were in Chicago to play the White Sox.
Radio play-by-play announcer Cory Provus, who's from Highland Park, was visiting his parents. Provus tells KARE-11 he once worked at a candy store
near the area and expects he'll know people involved in the shooting
because Highland Park is the kind of town everyone knows everyone.

Former Miami Radio Host Dies

Hank Goldberg, known as Hammerin’ Hank, died at the age of 82 after
battling chronic kidney disease. Goldberg worked in local radio in Miami,
also for ESPN Radio and was a Miami Dolphins radio analyst for 25 years.

New Jersey Host Dies From Cancer

New Jersey midday radio veteran Barbara LaRue has passed away, losing her battle with cancer. LaRue is known for her many years in New Jersey radio including stints at WZXL, WMGM and recently WCHR-FM (The Hawk).
