Dino Tripodis Returns To Sunny 95 Mornings

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 02:10 PM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/210885/dino-tripodis-returns-to-sunny-95-mornings/

Saga Communications AC Sunny 95 94.7 WSNY Columbus OH has announced the
return of Dino Tripodis to its morning show.

Tripodis departed WSNY-FM in June 2018 after 24 years at the station
intending to focus on his writing, acting, and movie production work. A stand-up comedian until joining WSNY-FM in 1994, Tripodis will once again
join Stacy McKay, who co-hosted alongside him from 1994-2007 and again from 2010 until his exit.

Incumbent morning host Bobby Mitchell, who joined WSNY-FM following
Tripodis departure in June 2018, exited last month. Mitchell previously
hosted mornings at Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC Detroit, Country 99.5 KPLX
Dallas and CHR “Y100” WHYI Miami.

Columbus Radio Group (CRG) announces today that Dino Tripodis, longtime
WSNY radio favorite, reclaims the seat next to Stacy McKay as co-host of
the legendary Sunny 95 morning show.

When Dino isn’t waking up central Ohio listeners on SUNNY THIS MORNING, you might find him working on a new film or video project through his Never The Luck Productions, or producing his award-winning podcast, Whiskey Business,
a podcast not so much about whiskey, as it is one with whiskey. He says, “I’m thrilled to be back doing what I’ve always loved to do, alongside the
people I love doing it with. When I left, I thought I was ready and felt
good about it…(laughs)…Yeah, I was wrong, I’m not done.” Stacy McKay added, “I am beyond excited to have our “band” back together and look forward to writing a new chapter in an amazing adventure!”

“Having Dino back alongside Stacy McKay as part of the Columbus Radio Group team is incredible. Columbus radio has missed him, and we’ve missed him,” said Erik Schmidt, VP/GM of CRG.

OPS Manager/PD Michelle Matthews adds, “We are so excited to reunite two long-time friends, along with their teammates Greg Hansberry and Clark
Donley, as we introduce this new show to Columbus.”

Sunny This Morning with Stacy McKay Dino Tripodis kicks off Monday
morning, July 19th, 2021 at 6am and runs each weekday morning from 6-10am
    on 94.7fm, Sunny 95.

    Fresh Listen: Junes Country Winners

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 11:30 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/ross/210777/fresh-listen-junes-country-winners/

The June PPM numbers have brought optimism to a variety of formats from CHR
to Adult R&B to Country. In the second day ratings, released July 14, there
was good news for WKLB Boston (5.1-5.7), WYCD Detroit (4.1-5.1), and KNIX Phoenix (5.5-6.0, No. 2 overall in the market). All three stories were part
of overall gains for the format in those markets. There were three
occasions in the day’s Country Aircheck ratings blast when ratings expert Chris Huff noted a station’s largest cume since before COVID.

Taking a Fresh Listen to all three stations shows the Country format in
various places as it expands musically after the previous years’
positioning emphasis on “new country.” What the stations did share was an emphasis on touring and ticket giveaways—always a big deal for Country in
the summer, but particularly this summer.

We heard WYCD Detroit with Audacy Country format midday host Katie Neal’s Katy & Company program. WYCD was giving away Luke Bryan Farm Tour 2021
tickets as part of its “Endless Ticket Summer.” It was also talking a lot about the upcoming Faster Horses festival. Russell Dickerson was going to
be Katie’s guest tomorrow; today it was Jason Aldean scheduled for her “Superstar Power Hour.” Here’s WYCD just before 1 p.m. on July 14:

    Chris Stapleton, “Tennessee Whiskey (Live)”
    Brett Young, “Lady”
Thomas Rhett f/Maren Morris, “Craving You”
    Jake Owen, “Made For You”
    Keith Urban, “Long Hot Summer”
    Kane Brown, “Cool Again”
    Cole Swindell, “Single Saturday Night”
Luke Combs, “Even Though I’m Leaving”
    Dierks Bentley, “Living’
Old Dominion, “I Was On a Boat That Day”
    Carrie Underwood, “Before He Cheats”
    Old Dominion, “One Man Band”
    Zac Brown Band, “Toes”
Lainey Wilson, “Things a Man Oughta Know”
Eli Young Band, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”
Lee Brice, “One of Them Girls”
    Andrew Jannakos, “Gone Too Soon”

WKLB (Country 102.5) Boston is positioned as “Boston’s Hottest Country” and
one of its new titles this hour was staged with a “Summer of New Country” sweeper, but it also had a “All the Country” sweeper that played over a library title. Middayer Carolyn Kruse had a homegrown “Local Catch” feature, playing a lengthy snippet of Eliza Smith’s “Country High,” just before the Blake Shelton song below. Here’s the station at 1 p.m. on July
    14:

Sam Hunt, “Breaking Up Was Easy In The ‘90s”
    Luke Bryan, “One Margarita”
Carrie Underwood, “Jesus, Take the Wheel”
    Dierks Bentley, “Living”
    Blake Shelton, “Minimum Wage”
    Darius Rucker, “Come Back Song”
Chase Rice f/Florida Georgia Line, “Drinkin’ Beer Talkin’ God Amen” Kelsea Ballerini, “Yeah Boy”
Lee Brice, “One of Them Girls”
    Taylor Swift, “Tim McGraw”
    Scotty McCreery, “You Time”
    Lady Antebellum, “Downtown”
    Cole Swindell, “Single Saturday Night”

KNIX Phoenix bills itself as ‘Today’s Best Country and All Time Favorites,”
but most of the imaging this week is a call to “Rally the Valley” on behalf of the Phoenix Suns. Middayer Double-L was promoting an upcoming interview
with 98 Degrees (something she promoted while backselling Rascal Flatts)
and soliciting listener questions. There was also a break on behalf of the station’s beer partner, Arizona Light Lager. Here’s KNIX at 2 p.m. on July 14:

Chris Lane, “I Don’t Know About You”
    Carrie Underwood, “Before He Cheats”
Chase Rice f/Florida Georgia Line, “Drinkin’ Beer Talkin’ God Amen” Luke Combs, “She Got the Best of Me”
    Dierks Bentley, “Gone”
Lee Brice, “One of Them Girls”
    Trace Adkins, “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk”
    Luke Bryan, “Down to One”
Keith Urban w/Pink, “One Too Many”
    Lauren Alaina, “Road Less Traveled”
    Luke Combs, “Forever After All”
    Garth Brooks, “That Summer”
    Jordan Davis, “Almost Maybes”
Jason Aldean, “Blame It On You”

Format Restructurings & Cuts Underway At Audacy CHRs

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 11:45 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/209983/format-restructurings-cuts-underway-at-audacy-chrs/

The rumors from the past few weeks are starting to become a reality as
Audacy has begun the process of restructuring their sixteen CHR stations,
much like they did at Alternative and Country last September.

Milwaukee based Brian Kelly remains as Format Captain overseeing the CHRs
for the company. His new national programming team for CHR and Rhythmic CHR will include five Regional Vice Presidents of Programming and five Regional Brand Managers overseeing multiple stations.

The five Regional VP/Programming are WZMX Hartfords DJ Buck, WEZB New
Orleans Tom Jammer Naylor, WTDY-FM Philadelphias Nathan Graham, WKSE/WTSS Buffalos Sue ONeil, and WBBM-FM Chicagos Todd Cavanah. The Regional Brand Managers are WBBM-FMs Erik Bradley, KSFM Sacramentos Big Mic Buhrman, WPXY Rochesters Mike Danger, WKRZ Scrantons Mike ODonnell, and WXSS-FM/WMYX Milwaukees Molly Cruz.

While the full effects are not yet known, we can confirm that many on-air staffers have been fired today.

Some of the affected stations have begun to update their websites with new on-air lineups, most of which feature B96 WBBM-FM Chicago afternoon host
Julia Lepidi in middays, Now 97.1 KNOU Los Angeles Josh Bru Brubaker in afternoons or nights, while 104.3 Jams WBMX Chicagos Sean Sonic Lecke will
host nights in a few markets.

Julia will host middays in fifteen markets, while remaining in afternoons
in Chicago. Brubaker will host afternoons at WKSE Buffalo, WKXJ
Chattanooga, WFBC-FM Greenville, KLUC Las Vegas, WXSS Milwaukee, WNVZ
Norfolk and WRVQ Richmond in addition to KNOU Los Angeles. He will also be heard at night at WBBM-FM Chicago, WPOW Miami, WEZB New Orleans, WTDY-FM Philadelphia, KALV Phoenix, WPXY Rochester, and KUDL Sacramento.

Among those making their departures public so far are B93.7 WFBC-FM
Greenville SC afternoon host Sean Shorty McGroarty. Shorty joined WFBC-FM
in 2013 as night host after stints at Hot 98.1 WHZT in the market and Q92
    WECQ Destin FL.

Tyler Foxx is out after three years in afternoons at 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas.
Foxx previously worked part-time at the station and has hosted mornings at
The Highway Vibe KHYZ and stints in Abilene TX and Saginaw MI.
