KROQ Relaunches Mornings As Klein. Ally. Show.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2021 02:30 PM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/214119/kroq-relaunches-mornings-as-klein-ally-show/

While nothing has been officially announced, it appears as though Audacy Alternative 106.7 KROQ Pasadena/Los Angeles has settled on a new morning
show name following the departure of Ted Stryker this summer.

Ally Johnson has been bumped up to co-lead of the morning show with
incumbent Kevin Klein for the newly minted Klein. Ally. Show.. Johnson previously served as Kleins co-host on Kevin Klein Live on then Live 105
KITS San Francisco from 2014 to 2017 and was set to join him in mornings on
Hot Talk/Rock 97.3 The Machine KEGY San Diego before the show was cancelled before ever debuting due to a backlash from promotional tweets for its use
of suicidal imagery. Both remained with Audacy moving to Los Angeles with
Klein joining Stryker first in afternoons at KROQ before moving to mornings
in March 2020 and Johnson hosting a show on LGBTQ+ Channel Q before joining Stryker Klein last September.

Longtime KROQ staffers DJ Omar Khan and Jonathan Beer Mug Kantrowe remain
in place with Klein and Johnson.

The Klein. Ally. Show. also airs on Audacys Alt 96.5 KRBZ Kansas City, Alt 103.7 KVIL Dallas, and until today on Alt 105.3 KITS San Francisco.

Melissa McGurren Sues Hubbard Radio Over Eric Ferguson Allegations; Fourth Former Employee Comes Forward

    Posted: 15 Oct 2021 11:30 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/213746/as-number-inappropriate-behavior-allegations-rise-wtmx-takes-eric-ferguson-off-schedule-through-october/

Current US99 WUSN Chicago morning host and former WTMX morning co-host
Melissa McGurren has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Hubbard Radio
stating that the company defamed her and management perpetuated a culture
of discrimination to protect cash cows such as popular morning host Eric Ferguson at any cost.”

The Chicago Tribune reports that McGurrens suit includes a declaration from
a fourth former WTMX employee over Fergusons alleged workplace misconduct. Jennifer Ashrafi, who served as afternoon co-host and traffic reporter on
WTMX as Jennifer Roberts from 2008 to 2020, wrote in the filing that WTMX
was a “a hostile, humiliating atmosphere” for female employees and Ferguson was “rude and dismissive to women.” She stated, It is humiliating to watch and dehumanizing to know that nothing can be done because the management at
The Mix approved Ferguson’s misconduct by their silence in not reprimanding him.”

McGurren had previously filed a declaration in an earlier lawsuit against Hubbard by former producer Cynthia DeNicolo and a complaint with the EEOC
over her 2020 exit from WTMX stating, I’ve been mentally and verbally
abused, harassed, put into tears, yelled at, belittled, ignored, mocked and
my job has been threatened multiple times.” Among her allegations are that Ferguson would make comments about her appearance on-air and in front of co-workers, was coerced into wearing a bikini an getting a spary tan for a
2011 social media video at the risk of losing her job for not cooperating, harassing her for using the bathroom at work, and “frequently and inappropriately touch many younger female employees, or sometimes younger female listeners, at company events in Chicago or abroad in Mexico during company retreats.”

Ferguson continues to be off-the-air through the month of October while
Hubbard Chicago deliberates on how to proceed.

Original Report 10/5: With the number of inappropriate behavior allegations against Hubbard Hot AC 101.9 The Mix WTMX Chicago morning host Eric
Ferguson rising to three, the company has removed him from the stations programming through the month of October.

In a memo to staff published by RobertFeder.com, Hubbard Chicago VP/Market Manager Jeff England told employees, We have made the decision that Eric
will not be on the air through October. We take these allegations seriously
and we are confident in the results of multiple investigations we have initiated. But we also owe it to ourselves and our listeners to have a deliberate and thoughtful process about our path forward, and candidly we
    are not there yet.

Feder reported earlier today that former co-host Melissa McGurren became
the third former WTMX employee to allege misconduct against Ferguson.
McGurren, who served as morning traffic reporter from 1998 until being
promoted to co-host in 2017, departed WTMX last December and has since
joined Audacy Country US99 WUSN in the same role, wrote in a court filing,
I contend that Eric Ferguson is a serial abuser of women and that for many years, the management of The Mix has protected Ferguson in allowing him to continue in perpetrating his misconduct that goes far beyond the limits of decency despite ample notice from me and many of my co-workers that Ferguson’s behavior is unlawful. When she departed the station after being off the air for several months, McGurren posted a video stating that the
    truth will come out.

McGurrens filing was submitted as evidence to a defamation lawsuit against Hubbard by former producer Cynthia DeNicolo. DeNicolo sued Hubbard in May stating that Ferguson was responsible for her dismissal 16 years after she stopped providing oral sex and was berated by him in front of other workers
and pressuring her to babysit his children.

Kristen Mori, a former account executive at WTMX, has alleged that Ferguson groped her at their station’s Christmas party in 2003.

Ferguson has hosted mornings at WTMX since 1996. He was paired with Kathy
Hart until Harts departure from the show after multiple months missing in
2017. Co-hosts Violeta Podrumedic, Brian ‘Whip’ Paruch, and John ‘Swany’
    Swanson remain in place.
