Joe Pesh Joins Mix 95.7 Grand Rapids As Morning Host As Fish & Christine
Head Elsewhere
Posted: 04 Oct 2021 08:54 AM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/213635/joe-pesh-joins-mix-95-7-grand-rapids-as-morning-host-as-fish-christine-head-elsewhere/
Townsquare Media Hot AC Mix 95.7 WLHT Grand Rapids this morning had its outgoing morning show introduce their new morning show.
Big Joe Pesh, who recently exited mornings at Cox Country Y100 KCYY San
Antonio to relocate back to Michigan to take care of his ailing mother and grandmother, will debut the Big Joe Show on Tuesday, October 5.
Pesh is from the Grand Rapids area and previously was producer/co-host of
the Morning Wake Up Call from 2007-2014 on Cumulus Country Thunder 94.5
WTNR. He later worked at WSTO Evansville and Radio Now 100.9 WNOW-FM Indianapolis prior to joining KCYY in April 2020.
With the arrival of Pesh, Fish Calloway and Christine George are departing WLHT. Calloway joined WLHT in August 2017 to reunite with his longtime
on-air partner Connie Curtis. Connie and Fish previously teamed at multiple stations in Wisconsin from 1996-2010 including a decade at CHR “Z104” WZEE Madison. He later spent time as part of the morning show at Hubbard Hot AC “KS 95” 94.5 KSTP-FM Minneapolis and 93.1 Jamz WJQM Madison.
George moved to mornings in January following Curtiss passing from cancer
after originally joining the station as midday host in 2015. A farewell
post on the stations website notes she is relocating to Nashville, while Calloway takes time off and moves forward.
Townsquare is seeking a co-host to join Pesh in mornings.
Townsquare Media Grand Rapids’ announced today that Mix 95.7 has welcomed the Big Joe Show to weekday mornings in Grand Rapids. The Big Joe Show is helmed by Michigan native Joe Pesh as he returns to West Michigan Morning Radio.
Joe Pesh has extensive connections to West Michigan and the state. He’s originally from Howell Michigan and began his career in Detroit. He was
most recently heard in Grand Rapids as the host of the Morning Wake Up Call
on 94.5FM. Since moving on from the station in 2014, Joe has found success
in radio markets such as Evansville, Indianapolis, and San Antonio.
Joe’s desire to come back to West Michigan, where he and his wife met and
got married, was driven by a desire to once again be a part of the West Michigan community. “As a Michigan guy, Im so excited to come back to the city I love! I worked for 7 years in Grand Rapids and fell in love with
West Michigan and even found the love of my life, my amazing wife Lindsey.
It feels great to be back home surrounded by family and friends. I cant
wait to start waking up West Michigan.”
Joe’s not the only one excited about his return to West Michigan’s airwaves. Mix 95.7 Brand Manager, Ken Evans, added, “I can’t wait to hear what Big Joe brings to Morning Radio in Grand Rapids. While other stations
have cut local mornings, plugged in syndicated shows, and let budgets drive their decision-making, I’m thankful that our local leaders like Doug Montgomery & Jeff Luckoff recognized the need to provide locally generated content for our audience.”
While we’re sad to see Fish & Christine move on, we wish them nothing but
the best in their choice to take on new adventures. That said, we’re still looking for a co-host to join the team with Big Joe & Producer Steve. Those interested in the position can apply and find out more here: bit.ly/Mix957Mornings.
