Kent State University To Vote On WKSU Operating Agreement With Ideastream

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 01:11 PM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/212656/kent-state-university-to-vote-on-wksu-operating-agreement-with-ideastream/

Ideastream Public Media is looking to expand in Northeast Ohio.

The Portager reports that Kent State Universitys Board of Trustees will
vote next week on whether to transfer operations of Public News/Talk 89.7
WKSU Kent/Akron to the operator of Public News/Talk 90.3 WCPN Cleveland, Classical 104.9 WCLV Lorain and PBS affiliate WVIZ Cleveland.

If approved, Ideastream will take control of WKSU on October 1. The
Portager reports that the eventual plan would be for WKSU and the rimshot
104.9 WCLV signal would be paired as the Public News/Talk station for the Cleveland and Akron markets, while 90.3 WCPN would assume the Classical programming.

The Portager report states that if the Kent State board of trustees
approves the agreement next Wednesday, WKSU employees that are offered positions at Ideastream will make at least their current wages, and some
will be offered increases to raise them to Ideastream’s compensation
levels, but Kent State will continue to contribute to their state
    retirement benefits.

The following WKSU simulcasters would be part of the deal as well: 89.1
WKSV Thompson, 89.3 WKRW Wooster, 90.7 WNRK Norwalk, 91.5 WKRJ New Philadelphia, 94.7 W234CX Mansfield, and 95.7 W239AZ Ashland OH.

    of the football season.

The new lineup will be centered around the launch of two new shows. The
Herd with Colin Cowherd co-host Joy Taylor will lead her own show on
Saturdays from 2-4pm. Prior to joining Fox Sports in 2016, Taylor spent
three years in mornings at 790 The Ticket WAXY and has been part of
Cowherds show since 2018. Former SiriusXM hosts Steve Covino Rich Davis
will bring their now Patreon based show to the Fox Sports Radio lineup on Sundays from 8-11pm. Covino Rich spent sixteen years at SiriusXM and have
also hosted shows for ESPN and SNY in New York.

Fox Sports Radio will also simulcast Fox televisions Big Noon Kickoff, Fox
NFL Kickoff and Fox NFL Sunday.

FOX Sports Radio (FSR), a division of Premiere Sports Network, today
announced its weekend lineup for the 2021 football season. FSR’s new
weekend roster features a diverse ensemble of sports entertainment personalities, former players and analysts dedicated to providing around-the-clock coverage, including live game-day reaction, analysis, and interviews.

Joy Taylor, co-host of the popular FOX Sports Radio/FS1 weekday program The Herd with Colin Cowherd, returns to FSR weekends on September 11 as host of
The Joy Taylor Show. Airing from 2 4 p.m. ET each Saturday, Taylor’s distinctive opinions on the sports world will be on full display, in
addition to conversations with insiders, players and experts.

On Sunday, September 12, a sports-focused version of the popular,
long-running podcast/radio show Covino & Rich launches in the 8 11 p.m. ET timeslot. The duo will break down the weekend in football in their unique style.

Additionally, the FOX NFL Sunday and FOX NFL Kickoff simulcasts return home
to FSR. Broadcasting live from 12 1 p.m. ET, FOX NFL Sunday is co-hosted
by Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee with analysis from Howie Long, Jimmy
Johnson and Michael Strahan, with reports from NFL insider Jay Glazer. Broadcasting Sundays at 11 a.m. ET, FOX NFL Kickoff is an hour-long program hosted by Charissa Thompson with analysts and contributors
including Michael Vick, Dave Wannstedt, Charles Woodson and Peter Schrager.

Plus, Up On Game with LaVar Arrington, TJ Houshmandzadeh and Plaxico
Burress returns for its first full football season in a new timeslot.  Now airing from 12 2 p.m. ET on Saturdays, the program serves as a lead-in to
The Joy Taylor Show. Each weekend, the trio of former professional football players takes on the latest hard-hitting sports topics, in addition to welcoming guests from the world of sports and entertainment.
