Sale Closings Lead To Multiple Christian Flips Across The Country

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 06:28 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/212395/sale-closings-lead-to-multiple-christian-flips-across-the-country/

A number of sales closed on September 1 leading to expected flips of
    stations to new Christian formats.

Radio Training Network closed on its $1.3 million acquisition of Horizon Broadcasting Company’s Sports ESPN 97.9 WTSM Woodville/Tallahassee FL and
AC Coast 101.3 WHLG Port St. Lucie FL. Both stations have now joined Radio Training Networks The Joy FM Christian AC network.

Taylor University Broadcasting completed the addition of Northeast Indiana Public Radios Classical 94.1 WBNI Roanoke/Fort Wayne IN and launched their Gospel Rhythm Praise programming under new WRNP call letters.

Brewer Media completed its $610,000 sale of 105.1 WALV-FM
Lakesite/Chattanooga TN to American Family Association. That sale has
triggered a multi-frequency format shuffle in the market with Sports ESPN Chattanooga and the WALV-FM call letters moving from 105.1 to the former
95.3 WPLZ Ooltewah. Classic Hits “Big 95.3” moved to the former home of Soft AC “Easy 106.9” W295BI Chattanooga/WALV-HD2 in May. American Family Association will place their AFR Radio programming on 105.1 under new WUIE calls.

Joe Hawk Takes Afternoons At 107.7 The Bone

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 05:48 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/headlines/212391/joe-hawk-takes-afternoons-at-107-7-the-bone/

Cumulus Media Classic Rock 107.7 The Bone KSAN San Mateo/San Francisco has announced the promotion of Joe Hawk Ceccotti to afternoon host.

Ceccotti has been with KSAN since 2013 starting as an intern and most
recently serving as a weekend/fill-in host. He takes the afternoon slot
that had been held by former Program Director Dominic ‘Zakk’ Zaccagnini until his departure from the station in June.

CUMULUS MEDIA (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has appointed Redwood City native Joe “Joe Hawk” Ceccotti to On-Air Host, Afternoon Drive, for Bay Area Classic Rock station, 107.7 The Bone/KSAN-FM. Ceccotti can be heard on
The Bone Monday through Friday from 2:00pm-7:00pm.

Ceccotti joins the weekday on-air lineup after more than eight years with
The Bone, which he joined in 2013 as an intern for the station’s popular morning program, The Lamont Tonelli Show. Since then, he has covered all on-air shifts as a part-time fill-in host for The Bone. Ceccotti began his radio career as Morning Host for KSJS-FM at San Jose State University,
where he earned a B.A. degree in Radio and Television/Broadcast
Communications. He has also made a name for himself in the local craft beer industry and hosts a new podcast for The Bone called BONE-A-Fide Brews, to bring light to smaller, up-and-coming breweries popping up around the Bay
    Area.

Chasta Michaelis, Program Director, 107.7 The Bone, said: Joe has been a
very important part of KSAN for the last eight years and has proved his
worth time and time again with his diligent work ethic behind the scenes,
as well as his great on-air performance. He is a true asset for us and Im thrilled to be able to make him our full-time Afternoon Host.

Ceccotti commented: Im super excited to not only host the PM drive for such
a legendary station but to represent the station that has become my home
for the past eight years. Becoming a Bone jock and to be associated with
such names, past and present, as Lamont Tonelli, Steven Seaweed, Nikki
Black, Baby Huey and Chasta is more than I couldve ever hoped for.

After delaying its launch from August 23 to Tuesday, September 7, Griffin Communications has announced the launch lineup for Sports 1170 The Blitz
that will replace News/Talk TalkRadio 1170 KFAQ Tulsa.

University of Tulsa basketball play-by-play voice Rick Couri will host
mornings from 6-9am. KOTV sportscaster Dan Hawk will follow from 9-11am.
Former Sports Animal 97.1 KYAL-FM Muskogee host Allen Jerkens Big Al
Friends will air from 11am to 1pm, followed by Program Director Jeremie Pop Poplin from 1-3pm. Colby Daniels, who previously hosted at 107.7 The
Franchise KRXO-FM Oklahoma City will host afternoons from 3-6pm. The
station will also feature talent from KOTV and co-owned KWTV Oklahoma City.

Griffin Communications is excited to announce The Blitz 1170 AM – Tulsa’s new sports talk station covering Oklahoma and national sports by the folks
who know sports best, the experts from Oklahoma’s Own.

“We are so excited to bring the best local sports radio to Tulsa,” said Todd Spessard, Griffin Communications’ Vice President of Content. “From high school to college to professional – Tulsa has so many great sports stories to tell, and we can’t wait to bring them to Green Country. We’re putting together a local lineup of some of the best and well-known Tulsa
voices and are ready to start talking sports!”

Not only will The Blitz debut an all-new winning lineup, the station will
also feature content from News On 6 Sports – a team led by veteran Sports Director John Holcomb and trusted by sports fans across Green Country.

The Blitz lineup will be anchored weekday mornings with a very familiar
voice – Rick Couri. Couri is currently the voice of University of Tulsa Basketball as well as the play by play announcer for Union Football.

Fans can also look forward to regular appearances from News 9 Sports
Director Dean Blevins covering all things OU alongside Thunder Reporter
Steve McGehee and college football analyst Dusty Dvoracek.

“I am incredibly excited for this opportunity with The Blitz,” said Jeremie Poplin, KFAQ Director of Programming. “A lot of hard work has gone into all the stages of planning for a station that will reach a variety of different
fan bases. We will strive to present a product everyone can be proud of and help fill the local sports void in Tulsa.”

    your favorite smart speaker.

Original Report 8/4: Griffin Communications will flip News/Talk TalkRadio
1170 KFAQ Tulsa to Sports The Blitz on Monday, August 23.

The new format will be led by Jeremie Pop Poplin, who has served as Program Director and 10am-12pm host on KFAQ since February 2020. Poplin previously programmed and hosted afternoons at iHeartMedia Sports 1430 The Buzz KTBZ
and 1300 The Buzz KAKC Tulsa.

Poplin tweeted that the Blitz will feature local programming from 6am to
6pm, but has not disclosed what that will entail. KFAQ will continue to
serve as the Tulsa affiliate for Oklahoma State University sports and Jenks High School football.

The Blitz name comes from the weekly Oklahoma Sports Blitz that airs on Griffins CBS television affiliates KWTV Oklahoma City and KOTV Tulsa on
    Sunday evenings.

KFAQ held a 1.1 share of the Tulsa audience in the June 2021 Nielsen Audio ratings well behind Cox Media Groups market leading 740 KRMG/102.3 KRMG-FMs
6.4 share. The new Sports format will place KFAQ in direct format
competition with the iHeartMedia duo mentioned above and Stephens Media
Groups Sports Animal 97.1 KYAL-FM Muskogee and ESPN 1550/99.9 1550
    KYAL/99.9 K260CR Sapulpa.

It’s out there now so I might as well address it. I am pretty excited for
my next step and the development of a truly local product from 6A-6p More details to follow. pic.twitter.com/n3HQShxxPu
