LMA To Buy Brings LatinX 103.7 To Boston's Northern Suburbs
Posted: 04 Aug 2021 11:35 AM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/211380/lma-to-buy-brings-latinx-103-7-to-bostons-northern-suburbs/
Jose Villafañes Costa Media Boston has begun operating 1490 WCCM/103.7
W279DH Haverhill MA ahead of a purchase of the station from Costa-Eagle
Radio Ventures.
With the acquisition the station has flipped to Spanish CHR LatinX 103.7.
The station is promoting the brand as a mix of Spanish Rhythm, Salsa, and
Pop. The station is carrying the syndicated Chiqui Baby in middays and
Spanish language broadcasts of the Boston Red Sox.
Villafañe, who runs Spanish language syndicator Nueva Network and
advertising rep firm MNA Sales, previously was President of National Sales
for Entravision and National Sales Manager at both Univision and Radio
Unica. In the press release, Villafañe notes that he intends to create a regional network in the Northeast.
With the launch of LatinX, Costa-Eagle Radio Ventures has moved its Spanish News/Talk Impacto programming to their 1110 WMVX Salem NH. WMVX had been originating programming for Classic Hits Valley 98.9 W255DA Salem NH.
Costa Media Boston LLC, is a recently founded broadcast company in Boston,
MA, by Managing Partner and Co-Founder Jose Villafañe, with the intent and purpose of creating a Northeast regional network focused on
Spanish-language format targeting Hispanics.
Boston was the first market acquisition for the company through an LMA to Purchase agreement with Costa Eagle Media, which has been in the Boston DMA
for over 33 years and currently owns and operates three other frequencies.
We strategically selected Boston as the first market to launch our
broadcast division because of the lack of radio stations catering to the Hispanic community that offer premium content for the local market, said Villafañe. Bostons 13% Hispanic population hails mostly from the Caribbean; Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Although this is a Top 10 market,
most of Bostons Spanish-language radio stations broadcast nationally
syndicated programs or broker Spanish-language radio. We want to change
that by super-serving the local community through premium local
programming, said Villafañe.
Jose M. Villafañe has been a Broadcast Media Executive for nearly 25 years.
He held the position of President of Entravision Communications, where he created and launched the Entravision Radio Network that introduced the
Company to the National Media arena. Prior to that role, Mr. Villafañe
worked with Radio Unica and Univision Communications overseeing National
Sales for Radio, Television, Digital Media and Business Development.
Presently, Mr. Villafañe is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Revenue
Officer of MNA Sales, a National Rep Firm focused on Spanish-language Radio
in Emerging Markets, and Nueva Network newly launched in March 2021. Nueva Network is a Spanish Radio Network with 350 Radio Stations in 150 DMAs with coverage of 83% of the U.S. Hispanic and over 10 million Social Media
followers through its Syndicated National Programs. Villafañe started his career at Katz Media Group in 1997 after graduating from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Posted: 04 Aug 2021 05:30 AM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/211361/azul-105-3-hd2-debuts-in-jacksonville/
Norsan Media has launched Spanish AC Azul 105.3 HD2 on WYKB-HD2 Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville FL.
The addition of the Spanish AC brand follows the recent launch of Spanish Rhythmic “Flow 105.3” on WYKBs primary signal.
Norsan Media, one of the nation’s premier Hispanic Media companies
providing entertainment and news via radio, television, newspapers, events, social media and digital marketing in the Southeast, adds a new radio

Azul will initially feature only music in its programming before expanding
to content through local shows.
The acquisition reflects a strategic move to continue to expand Norsan Media’s presence in the Jacksonville market. “We saw a void in romantic music in the market and decided to move forward with Azul 105.3 FM in HD2
and give people in the area another option for music in Spanish they can enjoy” said Norberto Sanchez, Norsan Media’s CEO. The company currently owns and operates Latin Urban, Latin Pop/Tropical and Regional Mexican
stations in Jacksonville. Norsan Media has a combined reach of over 2.75 million Hispanics with their coverage in the US.
Norsan Media’s holding company, NORSAN, was founded in 1987 by Norberto Sanchez. He continues to serve as CEO and Chairman of the company. NORSAN currently owns and operates 18 restaurants including Frontera Mex-Mex

In 2004, NORSAN launched Norsan Media bringing a Spanish media to the Southeast.
Norsan Media is based in Charlotte, NC and currently owns over 31 radio stations, 4 TV stations, a weekly regional digital and printed publication
in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Texas.
