Meet the RC-12X Guardrail, which provides Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
The Guardrail program has been in service since 1971 and it's purpose is to collect low-, mid- and high-band radio signals and ELINT signals to
determine source location and provide near real time reporting.

If both of these are being sold for $100, which would be the better buy? I
am very much an amateur and havent bought any equipment yet.

POTA setup with padded camera bag (power cable was with the 20m antenna and coax.) I really dont like the antenna tuner connection on the Icom 7300
because of how it sticks out and feels flimsy.

    Used Radio buying tip

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 08:39 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/salaja/used_radio_buying_tip/

A neat thing to know is to go to those online Ham Radio stores online and
in the search bar type in “BStock” . They are remanufactured items (radios and gear) not sold as new but sold as remanufactured (fixed) and usually
have a 90 day warranty from the manufacturer. You can find radios in really great condition at a discounted price. I find this easier to do than buying something on a marketplace/auction site. submitted by /u/Naturist02

ICOM RS-BA1-V2 vs WFVIEW- is Icom's worth it?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 08:48 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/salgpv/icom_rsba1v2_vs_wfview_is_icoms_worth_it/

Hello- My new 705 came in this afternoon and one of the first things I
tried was WFVIEW. Its free and works well. Has anyone tried Icoms version
and if so how does it compare and is it worth it?

    QSO Party Non-Participant

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 11:51 AM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/saaj09/qso_party_nonparticipant/

Big QSOP on SSB today. New to HF and not interested in “contesting”, but the QSOP seems a great opportunity to add a few states to my small list of QSOs. Is it acceptable to make some QSOs with contestors and not officially
log them? Does that negate the QSO for them? submitted by /u/ejzero1

    Accidental out of privilege.

Thought both 20 and 40 had a lower bound of .175, so in todays activity I
made a few contacts in the .175-.225 range of 20m. Thats not for general
use. I guess my question is now what? Is anyone going to check when they
log it? I logged them on QRZ thinking about deleting the evidence.

Looking for a reasonable microwave kit

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 11:59 AM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/saapfk/looking_for_a_reasonable_microwave_kit/

Been pondering getting into the microwave scene here in California… in
normal times I’d go hit one of the clubs for more info, but figured I’d ask the Reddit crew first for suggestions on a reasonable microwave kits… I’m a midrange builder, I’d be buying in pairs to test/have someone to op with. I’m open on bands since I don’t have any experience above 1.2ghz (I’ve done
a bunch of 1.2) it’s all uncharted to me.
    Any thoughts? submitted by /u/threeio

best way to attach a carbon fiber mast to a metal fence post?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 09:14 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/salxrp/best_way_to_attach_a_carbon_fiber_mast_to_a_metal/

    Hello,
Today I picked up a Carbon Fiber Mast from gigaparts and I would like to install it on a metal chain link fence post. would a pole to pole mount
like this work? im kinda worried that this other style would damage the
pole at the base. im open to any mounting options with the existing fence
pole. been tempted to use hose clamps to lock it in place as well.

    Loop antennas

I want to try my hand at building a loop antenna. If building a loop
antenna that uses a double loop should the length be calculated using the circumference of a single loop or using both (even though they are parallel
to each other? submitted by /u/Corn_Nut
