Radio interference from neighbor - Which ethernet cables would prevent this?

Whenever my neighbor broadcasts, the wired internet cuts out. The cable is approximately 50 feet long. Which type of ethernet cable should I use to prevent this from happening? I am not sure what kind of radio he is using, there is a large antenna behind his house submitted by /u/shelbygt5252

I seem to be getting just shy of 50% of my contacts verified. Is this
typical per your experience or am I coming up short? Since most logging platforms match contacts automatically for verification does this mean alot
of people arent logging their contacts? submitted by /u/DC5932

Help needed to identify Yagi
Posted: 15 Jan 2022 01:25 PM PST
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/s4up31/help_needed_to_identify_yagi/
Ive acquired a 3 element yagi that Im told is a hygain for 20/15/10. Its
pretty old and not in good shape so needs a bit of TLC. Some things dont
make sense with the pieces that I have, so here I am. The boom looks like
it has 4 mountings, so I may be missing an element. The driven element is longer than the reflector Only the reflector and driven element have traps, there is nothing on the director. The reflector has an angle iron bracket,
so I assume it goes with the corresponding angle iron on the boom. This
leaves a mounting on the rear of the boom with no function. The driven
element just has two wires hanging from it. Should there be some matching element? There are no manufacturer markings / part numbers / serial number. There is only a warning sticker saying you can be killed !
So, does anyone recognise this?
Ive just noticed that the boom has markings with rings of black insulation, with each mounting point marked with 1,2,3 or 4 rings. And the antenna
elements have markings with 1,2 and 3 rings, which would indicate that the elements go in the corresponding mounts, and Im missing a director. But if thats the case, then the angle iron on the reflector which has one ring,
doesnt go on the angle iron on the boom which has 3 rings.

Serial to PTT circuit success
Posted: 15 Jan 2022 11:06 AM PST
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/s4rl74/serial_to_ptt_circuit_success/
Ive been playing around with chinese radios for a while (the DR4020 which I love) SDRx and QRP SDR (the alibaba specials).
They all have vox in them, which WORKS, but not real well apparently.
The rigs usually have a PTT input line on the 3.5mm plug so Id been looking
for a way to get that into serial/USB.
A $10 USB to serial cable gave me a DB9. Today, I went to one of the last remaining Radioshacks (yeah, there are a few privately owned ones) and got
some parts. I was going to make this:
https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/22486/help-with-ptt-circuit-for-icom-radio
but after some testing with my meter, I decided just to try out the dead
simple 5v reed relay.
Guess what? It worked. Pin 5 and 7 in RTS, is triggered by JS8call. The
voltage seems to debounce a couple times and flips around but a simple
diode on the + fixed that. Now, for less than $20 in parts, I have a
USB/Serial activated PTT relay that is isolated from the rest of the
circuit. Ill now build that into the 4c 3.5mm plug PTT line for more
accurate transmissions. submitted by /u/noone512

Ive read the charging circuit can blow if you transmit with the charging current too low and Im wondering if its save to TX from my dock.

Ontario publicly accessible HAM Antennas?
Posted: 15 Jan 2022 09:26 AM PST
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/s4pb0c/ontario_publicly_accessible_ham_antennas/
I’ve recently become HAM radio aware. Im less than new to this.
For practical / utility reasons im wondering if it’s possible to
communicate from northern Ontario (say North Bay) to Toronto via publicly available antennas? (I.e is it possible to gain access
(appropriately/legally) to large antennas enthusiasts build?)
I don’t know if the concept of a ham network exists, where, like cellular, you can hand off the transmission from antenna to antenna until it reaches
the intended recipient.
My use case is simply letting my wife know that I’m ok once every 24 hrs
when im in the bush for 1-2 weeks straight. Satellite is an option, but as
I indicate, I’ve just become HAM aware and would like to learn if that’s an alternative option (I’m reading up on training and certification
requirements already).
From what I read it’s not realistic to communicate between two stations
line of sight over long distance such as North Bay to Toronto (~300km).
If there is a post addressing this question, I would appreciate it. Or any pointers … submitted by /u/O-l-l-l-O

97.313 - Transmitter power standards and bands 12, 6, and 2-meters

I am studying for the General.
This FCC part is not clear on PEP for 12, 6, and 2-meters
Reference 97.313 - Transmitter power standards
(b) No station may transmit with a transmitter power exceeding 1.5 kW PEP.
Does (b) apply to all the aforementioned bands in question?
Thank you for clarifications, appreciated. submitted by /u/jeff00seattle

97.313 - Transmitter power standards and 1.25 Meter band, PEP confused
Posted: 15 Jan 2022 11:25 AM PST
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/s4rzt1/97313_transmitter_power_standards_and_125_meter/
I am studying for the General, PEP confused for the 1.25 Meter band
Wikipedia: 1.25-meter band
The 1.25-meter, 220 MHz or 222 MHz band is a portion of the VHF radio
spectrum internationally allocated for amateur radio use on a primary basis
in ITU Region 2, and it comprises frequencies from 220 MHz to 225 MHz. In
the United States and Canada, the band is available on a primary basis from
222 to 225 MHz, with the addition of 219 to 220 MHz on a limited, secondary basis.
97.313 - Transmitter power standards
(b) No station may transmit with a transmitter power exceeding 1.5 kW PEP.
(d) No station may transmit with a transmitter power exceeding 25 W PEP on
the VHF 1.25 m band when the control operator is a Novice operator.
(h) No station may transmit with a transmitter power exceeding 50 W PEP on
the 219-220 MHz segment of the 1.25 m band.
Questions:
ARRL Band Plan indicates that 1.25 Meters as 222 MHz to 225 MHz, and
Wikipedia indicates that 1.25-meter band has a 220 MHz to 225 MHz and a secondary 219 to 220 MHz Does (b) 1.5 kW PEP apply to Non-Novices on 1.25-meter if (d) 25 W PEP applies to Novices on 1.25-meter? Does (d) 25 W
PEP applies to Novices on 1.25-meter for both primary and secondary? What
is the primary range for 1.25-meter: 222 MHz to 225 MHz or 220 MHz to 225
MHz? For 1.25-meter, does (b) apply to the primary range and (h) apply to
the secondary range 219 to 220 MHz?
Thank you for clarifications, appreciated. submitted by /u/jeff00seattle
