Could a non-ham friend help me with POTA activations?

I have them logging and they seem to be doing well with call format and the phonetics. Id like to get them on the mic if possible. IIRC its doable, but
I dont know the specifics. submitted by /u/Larnk2theparst

How to contesters and POTA people log so quickly?
Posted: 18 Jul 2022 10:46 AM PDT

Yeah, I realize they may have someone helping, but I tried (unsuccessfully)
to activate my first park yesterday and had a notepad and the HAMRS app on
my phone. I know experience would help dramatically, but I froze a little
and only called CQ a few times for fear of not being able to log quickly enough. All that being said, it was great getting out and figuring out my
setup process and saying that I “almost” had an activation. submitted

Mobile install questions
Posted: 18 Jul 2022 11:00 AM PDT
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/w25tcp/mobile_install_questions/
Im thinking about a mobile 2/70 install in a Lexus RX350 and have a few questions.
Antenna placement: putting the antenna on the roof is probably too tall for most of the parking structures I use, and the tailgate is a single unit
with an upper hinge, so is a front fender mount going to be my best bet? Im
ok with drilling holes.
Primary will be a typical mobile rig with an SO-239 antenna connector but
at times I may want to use a handheld with minimal fuss. Does an antenna
switch exist that has an input for the 239 and the second input suitable
for SMA (with dreams of a quick connect cable to quickly pop it on and off). Are there any solutions to get power pole to feed a drop in charger? Or a
drop in charger that works natively with power pole? submitted by /u/TheQuarantinian

Analogue handheld as digital

Im still quite fresh on the subject. I was wondering whether is it possible
to use a handheld radio, for example Baofeng UV-5R to transmit audio or
chat using digital mode like, for example, D-Star? Is it achievable by connecting PC or Android phone? submitted by /u/adi_dev

Camera Tripod Mount for Arrow II Antenna

Does anyone know how I can attach an arrow II antenna to a camera tripod? I
see they sell a mount but its made for masts, not tripods. submitted by /u/fsdigital12

Radio operator personalized book
Posted: 18 Jul 2022 01:00 AM PDT
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/w1tr4w/radio_operator_personalized_book/
Hi all! I grew up with the steady background noise of a ham radio. My dad
has been a shortwave listener since 1973, based in Belgium, under the same callsign for 50 years! And since recently, also broadcasting.
For his birthday, I bought a leather bound logbook that I want to fill with
as much as possible on awards won, special mentions and contacts, the
works. Turns out to be more difficult than expected, as very little has
been digitized before 2000. Original ideas on what to include very
welcome.. submitted by /u/EvilMonkey_86

Prepping Question. What Type of Antenna Should I Attached to a House to get Most Use from a Baofeng UV-5R?

Just been thinking... What would an ideal permanent antenna look like for a UV-5R. Does it make sense to go with something thats going to catch both
VHF and UHF, or just stick to a specific frequency range? submitted by /u/GroundPepper
