    Finally got W.A.S.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 04:05 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0thgq/finally_got_was/

Special thanks to Idaho, Delaware, my patient wife, and everybody on Reddit that offered advice.
I would also like to thank every operator who has paid money to QRZ and the ARRL to keep them going so guys like me dont have to.
Im planning to create a list of every QSO with all details, date and time
of qso, mode, band and signal report. With that list Im going to design my
own WAS certificate. Im working on exchanging physical QSO with each
station on that list and all of my logs are in multiple places online. I
feel like thats all the data I require to give my own stamp of approval.
This isnt sour grapes, just a little civil disobedience. submitted by /u/Steve_but_different

    Portable SOTA/POTA dipole experiences

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 03:18 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0sjlz/portable_sotapota_dipole_experiences/

Ive tried out several different types of antennas when running portable/camping/SOTA/POTA and my best results have been from an
inverted "L" so far. The inverted "V" was the next best.
Am curious if theres any consensus on what the best portable antenna design
    is for general DXing.
By best I mean best results DX as well as noise level.

    Yaesu FT-991A HF/VHF/UHF for WinLink?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 03:35 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0svse/yaesu_ft991a_hfvhfuhf_for_winlink/

Anyone using an Ft-991A for WinLink, Fldigi and WSJT-x? There’s no need for an external device like a SignaLink for digital modes, correct? Just need a
USB cable between radio and PC, right?
Looking at this rig for portable operation for POTA, camping and ARES. How
do you like it as a portable rig?
    Appreciated comments. submitted by /u/phochief70

How to determine what frequency to use for locating powerline noise?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 05:17 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0uvqb/how_to_determine_what_frequency_to_use_for/

Lately i’ve had horrible S9+ interference on HF after sunset. I’m assuming this is powerline noise. How do I determine the frequency to use when using
a directional antenna when locating this source of interference?
    Edit:
Its worse on 40, but persists on 20, 17, 15, and 10. The NB function on my
7100 handles it nicely, but I want to track it down. I’ve powered off the house and ran from a battery and it was still there. submitted by /u/RetardThePirate

    Rookie Roundup 2022?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 01:13 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0pxuw/rookie_roundup_2022/

Is this actually happening? My setup hasnt been the best but have run into
a few state QSO parties but havent heard anyone doing Rookie Roundup... is
this a pretty unpopular contest or did it get cancelled or something (no
one I knew around here even seemed to know about it)
Edit: Doesnt help that a lot of details like dates and whatnot are showing incorrect years on the ARRL website, so it leaves me confused. submitted

I have a monopole telescopic antenna and Id like to connect it through some sort of connector to PCB. Does any one know what I could use? Heres a

    Yaesu FT-300 DR no attenuator?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2022 04:19 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/u0trmh/yaesu_ft300_dr_no_attenuator/

In reading the manual, I see no mention of an attenuator. Does this radio
    not have one?

I want to copy a few public safety frequencies from my ID-5100 to my new ID-4100. I have RT Systems for my ID-51OO only. How can I do this? I can
use radio reference, if that will work. submitted by /u/Saxman31
