    Protecting and isolating SDR during transmission.

    I recently bought a T/R switch that routes the antenna to my SDR during RX,
    and connects the transmitter to the antenna during TX. The isolation at the
    SDR is about 50 dB during TX. This will prevent destruction of the SDR
    front end, but Id like to isolate the SDR further. Does it make sense to install a switch that grounds the SDR input during TX? Have you seen such a product available? submitted by /u/PDP-8A

    All bands closed?

    Im new to HF and just got my general yesterday. I made one contact on 17m earlier today which was awesome, but I just tried jumping on now and I cant hear anything at all across any HF bands. After checking QRZ homepage with
    the solar data Im seeing that every band is showing poor propagation with
    6m and shorter closed entirely - which I personally have never seen before.
    Is this an example of the LUF being higher than the MUF that I read when studying? How often does something like that happen? submitted by /u/Mean-Difference-197

    Help! Antenna problem on the ICOM 7100?

    So I just passed my technician exam a week or so ago, and have been setting
    up an ICOM 7100. I am waiting for an antenna to arrive, but in the meantime
    I wanted to use a 19 inch handheld antenna that was on a handheld of mine.
    The handheld antenna on my handheld gave an SWR of 1.2 using an inline SWR meter. When attached to my 7100, SWR reads approx. 3:1. Clearly it is not
    an antenna malfunction, and I triple checked that I am using the
    appropriate antenna port. What else might I be missing? If it matters, I
    have the 19 inch antenna connected through a 90 degree sma to UHF male
