    Battery Power Source

Recently built a portable station with IC 7300, has a power supply and
option for battery plug in however when I am running it off of the Battery
I feel a shock on the Tuner Dial and my computer during digital when it is transmitting. Station is grounded through a common ground using a 24 in glavinized spike. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

Icom IC-2200H random silence during RX

    Posted: 26 Dec 2021 06:07 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/rpby10/icom_ic2200h_random_silence_during_rx/

I have an IC-2200H that used to be my mobile radio, but is now at home connected to an external power supply. It works normally mostly, but it occasionally acts like the volume is completely muted for about one second
or so. I have been able to confirm that the transmissions I am receiving continue on normally with an HT. (Ie., the IC-2200H goes mute, but the HTs audio continues.)
The IC-2200Hs signal meter stays at the same level when it goes mute, so
that part of the radio acts like everything is fine. The rest of display
stays the same as well, and the power supply (a QJE) likewise acts like
nothing changes when the issue happens (no change on the volt/amp meter).
This radio was purchased new, and stored for a number of years (8-10 years
or so) after having been installed for 5 years or so. I do not recall any
issue when it was removed from the vehicle in which it had been installed.
Has anyone seen this kind of issue on this model or with Icom mobile radios
in general? It is theoretically just a minor annoyance, but it seems to
always been just long enough during the most important part of a
transmission (Murphys Law), that it ends up being maddening.
I can replace the radio, but this IC-2200H is otherwise a good, solid radio that does most of what I need for a dedicated base-station radio. Plus,
since it was just on the shelf and was not being used, it was the best
price (free). Even if I decided to replace it, I would love to know how to
fix it so I could hand the radio down to a new Amateur.
Thanks, and 73. submitted by /u/hsvsunshyn
