• Cost of manufactured beams and verticals

When I look at the prces for manuactured beams and
vericals, both single band and multiband, I am stunned at how
much manufacturers charge for alumimium tubes and rods. Aluminium
is pretty cheap, certainly cheaper than copper.

So, it isn't cost of materials, or cost of manufacturing.
Most manufactured antennas are just cut tubing. Many don't even
mark the parts so with say a Yagi design, you need a tape measure
    to sort out the elements.

Plus, often the antenna is shipped with missing parts, or
in one case, two beam parts that would not fit together.

I have built Quaggi and HB9CV antennas for pretty much
    small change.
