Opening to the south on 28 MHz - Sat 11th Sept 2021

The 28 MHz band was open again on Saturday the 11th of September 2021 with
an opening to the south to South America, Ghana and Ascension Island.9G5FI

The solar flux was at 92 which is gradually dropping back from the recent
surge to 100.
The key thing to note here is that all of the long distance FT8 signals
heard on 28 MHz recently are mostly North-South and not East-West. It's a
case of 'Yes, the band is open' but just about.
It's likely to stay like this for a few weeks until hopefully more
east-west paths start to open up.
