UPCOMING CONTESTS - THINGS TO DO
North American QSO Party - SSB
The August SSB edition of the North American QSO Party (NAQP) begins at
1800 UTC on Saturday, August 20, and concludes at 0600 UTC on Sunday,
August 21. The NAQP's 12-hour format allows participants to do some
great contesting, yet still have time for other activities during the
weekend. Power output is limited to 100 W, so this is a great contest
for beginners with low-power stations to get their feet wet! Complete
rules are available at ncjweb.com/naqp <
https://ncjweb.com/naqp/>.
ARRL Rookie Roundup - RTTY
If you earned your ham license within the last 3 years, or have never participated in a RTTY contest before, the ARRL Rookie Roundup is the
perfect opportunity for you to try out contesting on this digital mode.
The event begins at 1800 UTC, Sunday, August 21, and runs for 6 hours, concluding at 2359 UTC.
Rookies can contact everyone, and non-Rookies can only contact Rookies.
The exchange is your name, call sign, a two-digit year, and state (US
or Mexican), Canadian province, or "DX." Full rules are available at www.arrl.org/rtty-roundup <
http://www.arrl.org/rtty-roundup>.
World Wide Digi DX Contest
The World Wide Digi DX Contest begins at 1200 UTC on Saturday, August
27, and concludes at 1159 UTC on Sunday, August, 28. The objective of
this event is to contact as many other amateurs in as many Maidenhead
grid fields as possible using the FT4 and FT8 modes. The exchange is
your station's Maidenhead grid square. Visit ww-digi.com/index.htm <
https://ww-digi.com/index.htm> for rules and other contest resources.
Several State QSO Parties Coming up on August 27 - 29
Fans of state QSO parties can enjoy three different events during the
last weekend of August. The Hawaii QSO Party
<
https://www.hawaiiqsoparty.org/> begins at 0359 UTC on Saturday,
August 27, and runs through 0400 UTC on Monday, August 29; the Kansas
QSO Party <
https://ksqsoparty.org/> starts at 1400 UTC on Saturday,
August 27, and concludes at 2000 UTC on Sunday, August 28, and the Ohio
QSO Party <
https://www.ohqp.org/> begins at 1600 UTC on Saturday,
August 27, and ends at 0400 UTC on Sunday, August 28. More details are available at their respective websites or in the "Contests" section
below.
BULLETINS
Additional Weekend Added to ARRL EME Contest
An additional weekend of 2.3 GHz and above activity has been added to
the ARRL International EME Contest. The new microwave-only weekend
begins at 0000 UTC on Saturday, August 27, and concludes at 2359 UTC on
Sunday, August 28. Complete logs for all four weekends of the contest
are due on December 13. For full details on all EME Contest weekends,
