    Is anyone offering repair on the Drake R8B receivers, specifically replacing or repairing an erratic tuning encoder, overall cleaning and tuning?

    That sounds like a IC chip that has gone bad. Getting an IC chip that old
    is going to be very difficult, if not impossible. You may want to get a new radio. YMMV. IMHO.

    Not true. RL Drake was bought by Blonder Tongue in 2012 but are still
    operated as a separate company. They've just been out of the shortwave
    radio business since ~2004.
