So you don't think unleashing the wherewithal to every Tom Dick and
Harry to attempt to repair their own phones will likely result in an
increase in the number of (insert appropriate word of your choice here

nope, because the people who want to do that and have the skills are
already doing their own repairs, sometimes with genuine parts and
    sometimes not.

most people are not going to bother.

Well, the context here is technical. I also interpreted "rooting a

yep. given the context, that's the correct interpretation of 'root',
which for android, is a well known term. on iphones, it's called
jailbreaking, although they're sometimes used interchangeably.

Isn't that way we have two separate dictionaries

For example - the rest of the English-speaking world doesn't use 'honk'

I've never used honk for that, I thought that was american english.
I've not heard anyone use the word honk for masterbate either.

we use sherman, one off the wrist, hand job, even polishing the helmet amosnst others
    but never heard honk used.

I've only ever heard it used as honk your horn which is a motorists way of telling someone to hurry up
or get out of the way.

I thought that was american english, used by blacks and why white people were called honkies in the USA because
of how they got black prostitutes to come over to their car.

"Our words" ! Great coming from a culture that thrives of misspelling, mis-connotation, mis-pronunciation, and other misuse of words and
grammar of the English language. Most of which evolved with ignorance
being the driving force. ANd most don't even realise the differences !

For example - the rest of the English-speaking world doesn't use 'honk'
for 'wank or masturbate. But at least we do understand your usage.

Maybe you've been confused by the term "getting the horn" which is not the same as a honk.
