Yes, it was just social engineering.

Yes, it was just social engineering.

But RichA has to turn it into "evil Apple".

Did Apple bail out of the idea of making cars? I hope so. You don't buy a car expecting the manufacturer to drive it for you and own the key.

nobody outside of a small number of people within apple knows what they
are doing in the automotive space.

there are a *lot* of rumours, but no specifics and certainly no
    announcements of any sort.

they've made some interesting hires and have some test vehicles, but
that only means *something* is going on.

    You don't buy a
car expecting the manufacturer to drive it for you and own the key.

what do you think a self-driving car is?

granted, the technology for fully autonomous vehicles is not ready yet,
    but it's definitely coming.

*many* companies are working on that.

apple *probably* is also working on it, because that is the direction
the industry is going, but that is only speculation. they might just be
writing the software side of things, for all anyone knows.

    Apple auto-first-letter-and-proper-noun capilisation obviously broken.
Will be fixed in next update.

Likely Apple is doing something in the automotive arena. They will
certainly have endless devotees lined up to buy in totally regardless
off what it turns out to be.

yep, and it's not just likely, but there is substantial evidence
they're actively working on something in the automotive sector,
however, what exactly it is remains a mystery.

    obvious trolling.

I doubt it'll be regardless, most will assume they'll get a product that has the same
quality feel and usefullness of other Apple products they own or like.

Some people spend money on high end watches some on handbags, some even spend money on cameras.

I've got my eye on a lamborghini sian fkp 37, would love to know what size and spec the capacitor is.
Unfortunantly I think they are all sold out, and I'll just have to be content with the iPad simualtion in a racing game.

The fact that some people are a little Apple happy seems to drive other
people into a hate fest. I think the latter is the more curious
affliction. Ah, well, free rent in people's head never hurt anyone
    right Rich?

I have a lot of Apple products. I own them.
I repair some of them when needed.
    Get over yourself.
In the meantime, Apple is enjoying the free rent in your head.
I'm getting a kick out of it too.

As to cars, they are indeed selling s/w to car makers.

For that matter my car can use Apple's CarPlay or Android and probably
others to do maps and other things on the car's central display. That
includes Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze and several others just in the navigation space.

IOW your notion that Apple is absolutely controlling is utter rubbish.
