She looks about and sees new guests! She is delighted but suddenly
notes 2 of them are not cats or 2foots.
She looks and they are South American Skunks! Cute as can be. She
sends a journeyman cook off to check to make sure her memory is right
that they like: Mice (plenty in stock), little fish (plenty in stock)
but they also like just a little dried fruit (checks, has stock) and
grubs or insects. They also like spiders.
The Journeyman cook comes back and grins, 'talk about a Halloween table
if they get loose!'. She smacks the imp with a paw (carefully
sheathed) then sends some apprentices out with lidded bamboo small
baskets to snag a few beetles. She shudders and skips the spiders.
Then she sets the journeyman to chopping some more of the local fruits
small. He chops several Longhan, Mangosteens, and queries with his
eyes on a beloved durian. She nods but tells him to place it at only
one end of the table.
She then works on her simple centerpiece of Budda's Hand which is
ringed by small custard cups of the same fruit made to a lovely pudding
with eggs and goatsmilk.
Shortly everything is ready and they prepare to bring it out. This is
a careful play they do for the tourists but they like it too!
2 2foot journeymen place themselves, one at each end of the big table.
Next, Bamboo trays are laid across the backs of 2 sets of 3 cats, all
paired to be the same height. Food bowls are laid on the trays and on
a nod, they deliver them to the 2foots who place them on the table.
This is repeated until the food is all on the table, then with a grin,
they all join the table.
Pepe and Gigi find 2 last apprentices come up with little loose woven
bamboo baskets with lids tied on. They peek and see 2 beetles each
through the loose weave. Delighted they decide to save them for
dessert.
The Master Fisher turns to Jocko. 'Tell me about the waters you have
fished Jocko?'
