From Judith Latham@21:1/5 to All on Tue Oct 20 21:11:17 2020
Hi, I was wondering how you all are and how you're getting on in these
    strange times.

    Nothing much has changed here.

Sootie has still got us well trained and now she has both of us at home
she's making sure we serve her properly, letting her outside, letting her inside. Food on demand and demanding treats from us both. she sleeps most
days until about 2pm then goes out for a stroll. back in at 3pm more sleep
then out at 4.30pm. I'm sure she can read the clocks. In at 6pm for some
dinner and then back out. she comes in at night but at 5am she goes
downstairs, howls a couple of times and comes back to bed, why she howls
    we have no idea.

Hi, Judith! I haven't had much to say so I've been rather silent. Sorry
about that. Buffy and I are doing okay. :) Yes, these are strang times.

I ordered a refill for the Kitty Garden I had bought for Persia (RB)
    many years ago. Like this:

I'd never tried it as a treat for Buffy. But I knew I couldn't have
flowers or other plants sitting where Buffy can get them because she
always tried to eat them. But hey, this is grass for cats and Persia
    loved it so why not?

Once the greens sprouted I set them on the fireplace hearth. Buffy
looked at me like, it's really okay if I eat this? Yes! :)

Buffy occasionally howls and I don't know why. She might be spotting
some raccoons or deer near the patio where I have a birdbath. Oddly
enough, she pays no attention to the birds that use it.

I've had to have a couple of maintenance people over recently. A roofer
to look for a possible leak in roof after *days* of very heavy rain.
The roofer went up in the attic determined it's a problem with a drain
for the HVAC unit. So I called the HVAC company I have a service
contract with and the next day they sent a technician out. The roofer
was correct; it was a problem with the air-con drain building up
condensation and will likely need to be replaced. While he was in the
attic the mail-carrier chose that moment to ring the doorbell to drop
off a package. Buffy freaked out. Two guys in the attic in two days and
then the doorbell rings? Oh no! It took a couple of days for her to
    settle down.

    Hi Jill,

I'll have a look at that Kitty Garden. I love their expressions with faced
    with something different.

I was talking to a neighbour today and she says that the foxes have been barking around 5am and has set their dog off barking too on a few
occasions. Maybe that's what Sootie's hearing and reacting to.

Poor Buffy, Far too peoply for comfort. Sootie just stays in bed until she
can make a break for it and run downstairs to go outside. Before the
pandemic when we used to have visitors in the house, when she wanted to
come inside we'd open the door, she'd see and hear the people and walk
away up the garden. Then about half an hour later she would ask to come
in, eye up the route to the sitting room door and make a dash for it.
Unless of course we've told the visitors that's what she'd do, then she
would decide to walk around sniffing at them. :)
