• Clicker training fun, and a pose question

From My2Kitties@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 8 05:28:54 2017
Has anyone done clicker training of your cat/s? My cat, Boston Blackie
(named after a detective in a 1940s-50s radio show) can jump through a
hoop now. He also jumps from one chair to another (through the hoop,
too), jumps up on the bed, and does Sit on command. A few more tricks,
too. All done with clicker training. We've been doing clicker training together for 5 or 6 months.

I'm trying to teach him the Squirrel Pose, but don't know how. So far,
he'll do Sit, and Up. "Up" from the sitting position means he stands up
on his hind legs. The Squirrel Pose, or Begging Pose is what I want him
to learn -- here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udJ_sFkze9o

I don't know how to show Blackie how to do that. Has anyone here either trained your cat to do this pose, or know anyplace I can find
instructions? There are several videos of it, but none tells how they
trained their cat to do it.

Actually, a series of books first (early-mid 1900s),
then quite a few movies (1918-1949),
with the radio shows mixed in near the end of the movies,
    THEN a TV series (1951-53).

I used to get up and watch the TV show through the heater grate
when I was 4-5 years old. MY parents NEVER knew.

WOW!!! You ARE an expert on Boston Blackie!!! I was somewhat older when
I listened to the radio show -- you were so young to appreciate the
shows. I did not know all the info you sent here. Books, wow. I know
about the TV show. You can get that on YouTube, and the radio show,
too. Thank you for enlightening me! I'm even more excited that Blackie
my cat, is named after Boston Blackie. Do you remember that in the old
shows his friends and colleagues called him Blackie?

Yep. The TV show wasn't true to the things, I've watched quite
a few of the movies on late night TV, with Chester Morris as Blackie.

The TV show was more of a comedy, and placed in Los Angeles.
