    How'd your pup do?

Mine is having trouble with arthritis.

    That picture's two years old.

I've had dogs all my life but never one who was such a problem to
train as Chicco. By "problem" I mean I have to conciously train him
using all the tricks in the book. (All my previous dogs more or less
naturally trained themselves.) One part of the problem is that I
started on him late: He was about a year old when I rescued him from
the shelter and his previous owners had never given him any sort of training--including walking on leash--at all. Another part is that
I've never had a dog who was so intensely smell-focused. When he gets
a scent up his nose all his other senses seem to shut down: he seems
not to see or hear anything while he's tracking the scent. For this
reason I still can't reliably let him off leash although his recall
very much improved after I started using a referee's whistle.
    Apparently he can't ignore that.

Mine is having trouble with arthritis.

Sorry to hear that. I've been through that many times myself with
Chicco's predecessors. With them my only options were palliative care.

Sorry, newsreader on old xp box. I can open postimg files though.
Sounds like a scent hound and well familiar with that!

Here's my little blind girl, passed away age 18.

If you think training a sighted scent hound is hard, try a blind one!
    Iowna, nickname 'da sniffilator'.

Here's Cash protecting his buddy Daisy-chan, just back from the vets
    giving her a dental.
