• Ho hum, I'm an "energy superstar" - again

From Technobarbarian@21:1/5 to All on Fri Feb 24 14:04:04 2023
I only saved $7 last month using time of day pricing. That's still beats "a poke in the eye with a sharp stick", and isn't bad for something that requires almost no effort. I'm sitting in the middle of what was an historic snow storm for us. Unlike
TX, most of us still have power. OTOH we really didn't have any freeways for around 24 hours. It looks like most of us are still staying off the highway.

Hundreds of cars were abandoned when the freeway became a big long snow covered parking lot. The tow companies figure they'll be busy through the weekend if nothing else happens.

We're suffering right along with our Northern Bros, even in
Southern Commiefornia... There's flooding, trees down everywhere,
several feet of snow in the local mountains , and I5 is closed
down, forcing everyone going N,& S, onto Hwy 101, creating a
writhing traffic jam, from Santa Monica, to Salinas... What a
    mess!

Here in crackerland, it was 81, partly cloudy, the Japanese magnolias
have already bloomed, I saw the first robin a few days ago, and I've
killed 11 carpenter bees, and 1 fruit fly so far.

What a literal coincidence. That's what I use - but I've also got some

Not me. I'm ravaged by nothing but disappointment when I swing and

Not only that, but when they manage to get by my defenses and drill a
hole and lay some eggs, then the pileated woodpeckers arrive and tear

I'm sure there's a lot of suffering out there, but I'm at home, warm and dry and enjoying the show. The local transit agency reported that they still had 150 stranded buses yesterday because no one went out with chains on. The local TV stations
know where to set up cameras so they can tape some fender benders. One woman reported that she had to abandon her car twice in two days. It's a great show if you don't have to go out in it.

This will probably mess with the street party I've organized for tomorrow. I have a musician driving up from Eugene, if she can make it. Oh well, I knew I was gambling, and I can back up and try again next month. Worst case scenario is that only a
few people show up and we duck into a nearby restaurant without our musician. She sounds pretty plucky, so I think there's a good chance she'll make it. The plan is to try to throw a party somewhere once a month for the rest of the year, regardless of
the weather. If I can arrange it we'll be throwing axes for entertainment next month.

I like our weather better. I grew up right in the middle of the temperate zone. I like having all four seasons. This was a big part of why I left AZ. I never could get used to warm weather during the Christmas season. It just doesn't seem like
    Christmas.

Laughing at myself. A golden opportunity to do a cracker imitation, and I'm really not good at it. Please define "assault" and "large". Actually, come to think of it, you might need to define Ax, so, at the end of the day and going forward we
understand what we're talking about. I mean seriously, if you want to get real, it was more like what I would call hatchets. They were black and looked like you could do a lot of damage if you wanted to assault someone. But, I was never a boy scout.
Those idiots seem to be in love with hatchets, despite the fact that they're nearly useless in most situations. They are certainly not as big as the serious ax throwin' people toss around. This is light weight stuff for amateurs in a bar. Still, you want
it to stick if you manage to hit the target with the right part of the "ax". And, if you had enough time, you could chop down a tree or dismember a body, or two.

Hundreds of cars were abandoned when the freeway became a big long
snow covered parking lot. The tow companies figure they'll be
busy through the weekend if nothing else happens.

    TB
We're suffering right along with our Northern Bros, even in
Southern Commiefornia... There's flooding, trees down
everywhere, several feet of snow in the local mountains , and
I5 is closed down, forcing everyone going N,& S, onto Hwy
101, creating a writhing traffic jam, from Santa Monica, to
    Salinas... What a mess!

    Dan Rather Jr.

I'm sure there's a lot of suffering out there, but I'm at
home, warm and dry and enjoying the show. The local transit
agency reported that they still had 150 stranded buses
yesterday because no one went out with chains on. The local TV
stations know where to set up cameras so they can tape some
fender benders. One woman reported that she had to abandon her
car twice in two days. It's a great show if you don't have to
    go out in it.

This will probably mess with the street party I've organized
for tomorrow. I have a musician driving up from Eugene, if she
can make it. Oh well, I knew I was gambling, and I can back up
and try again next month. Worst case scenario is that only a
few people show up and we duck into a nearby restaurant without
our musician. She sounds pretty plucky, so I think there's a
good chance she'll make it. The plan is to try to throw a party
somewhere once a month for the rest of the year, regardless of
the weather. If I can arrange it we'll be throwing axes for
    entertainment next month.
Ummm.....they're not black assault axes with large handles,
right? -- bill Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.

Laughing at myself. A golden opportunity to do a cracker imitation,
and I'm really not good at it. Please define "assault" and "large".
Actually, come to think of it, you might need to define Ax, so, at
the end of the day and going forward we understand what we're
talking about. I mean seriously, if you want to get real, it was
more like what I would call hatchets.

See? It's you persons who do the defining.

    They were black and looked
like you could do a lot of damage if you wanted to assault someone.
But, I was never a boy scout. Those idiots seem to be in love with
hatchets, despite the fact that they're nearly useless in most
    situations.

I agree with you on that. I have a hatchet - somewhere - I bought it
to split little pieces of wood to get a campfire growing toward
maturity, but a machete is much more efficacious for that purpose.
However comma a hatchet is more easily concealable than an axe.

They are certainly not as big as the serious ax
throwin' people toss around. This is light weight stuff for
amateurs in a bar. Still, you want it to stick if you manage to hit
the target with the right part of the "ax". And, if you had enough
time, you could chop down a tree or dismember a body, or two.

An axe pales beside a chain saw for felling trees. I can't speak to
body dismemberment, because I have no experience with that.
