I am enjoying the hell out of what being a "free speech absolutist" means to Elon. And, surprise, surprise--it doesn't mean
anything like what I thought it would mean. He has single handedly
destroyed the myth that Twitter can be a town square for the whole
world. Right now it's Elon's town square and he would be happy to sell
you part of it for the same ridiculous price he paid. Seriously, he
said that.
"Twitter bans promotion of accounts on other social media sites,
including Facebook, Instagram and Truth Social
The new policy marks the most significant change to the platform under
CEO Elon Musk and comes after many users began posting links to their accounts on other sites."

As usual, follow the money:
"Twitter’s rule changes left out some major social media platforms, most notably TikTok. TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance
and is ultimately controlled by the Communist Party of China,
according to company insiders and critics. Musk has been increasingly
called out for his cozy relationship with China ever since he took
over Twitter.
Reddit, Twitch, Telegram, WhatsApp, WeChat, Weibo and the right-wing platforms Parler and Gab are also exempt from the new policy.
Twitter announced the change during Sunday's finale of the World Cup,
which Musk attended and tweeted from. He was pictured sitting near
Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump, who
founded Truth Social, which was part of the rule change."
Something else to remember the next time Elon trolls the current administration here:
"Why Twitter Under Elon Musk is Good News for China’s Rulers Musk’s Acquisition an Opportunity for China to Influence Social
Media Discourse"
"Musk has significant business interests in China. The country is Tesla’s second-largest market, and sales in China have increased significantly in the past couple of years. Tesla’s plant in Shanghai is the world’s largest electric vehicle factory and the company’s
primary export hub. In January, Tesla opened a showroom in Xinjiang
that drew criticism from members of the US Congress and rights groups because of the Chinese government’s crimes against humanity targeted at the region’s Uighur and other Turkic Muslim communities.
Last month, Musk suggested that Taiwan agree to being partly
administered by China as a way to resolve their tensions. The proposal
was welcomed by Beijing but slammed in Taipei."

Yeah, I don't think Elon will be trolling the administration in China anytime soon. LOL
