I think the SLS should be renamed the SLAB - the Space Launch Aborting
    Booster.

And so far, all of the problems are because they can't even fuel up
the thing efficaciously. I hope they've used up all their screwups by
the time they get around to actually lighting the candle.

It also appears that the ghost of Richard Feynman and Challenger has
came back - better late than never - to haunt them. And if the SLS
fails to sucessfully launch that might be a career ending blow to many
    in NASA's management team.

them. For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over
public relations, for nature cannot be fooled."

Messaging is everything. Nature will eventually catch up and fall in line.

Or because it stays on the slab?

I was thinking of a vertical slab. If there is no such thing, there
    should be.

They have been pushing back the launch since 2016. If that trend
continues Elon's colony will be established and be waiting to wave as
    the SLS makes its flyby.
