• U.S. Space Force reveals official song

From Technobarbarian@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 20 15:51:20 2022
"U.S. Space Force reveals official song"

This thing is just as dreadful as you would expect, and then some.
I skipped through the long introduction and all but about 5 seconds of
the music. I have my limits. There's only so much of that sort of crap I
    can stand.

    Semper Supra” lyrics:

    We’re the mighty watchful eye,

    Guardians beyond the blue,

    The invisible front line,

    Warfighters brave and true.

    Boldly reaching into space,

There’s no limit to our sky.

Standing guard both night and day,

We’re the Space Force from on high.

FYI, Trump didn’t write that so it’s okay to say you really like it.

That is no "Anchors Away Boys", and certainly doesn't invoke the passion of "Up we go, into the Wild Blue yonder", or "Halls of Montezuma"! Shiteatin'dawg! What a horrible theme song! I'll bet I could do a far better anthem, myself! Somebody
probably made a fortune on that song, unless out of their patriotism, they foreswore the filthy lucre royalties to "The Force", and its "Warriors"? What total bullshit! HawHawHaw!

I think the whole idea of a "Space Force" was just another way YKW could adore himself... It's just a fortune spent by duplication.... If the USS Enterprise was good enough for Capt. Kirk, it's good enough for me!

or a tune you'd whistle while you work?

    I can't whistle............well, I can whistle, but I can't make a recognizable tune.

That is no "Anchors Away Boys", and certainly doesn't
invoke the passion of "Up we go, into the Wild Blue
yonder", or "Halls of Montezuma"! Shiteatin'dawg! What
a horrible theme song! I'll bet I could do a far
better anthem, myself! Somebody probably made a fortune
on that song, unless out of their patriotism, they
foreswore the filthy lucre royalties to "The Force",
and its "Warriors"? What total bullshit! HawHawHaw!

I think the whole idea of a "Space Force" was just
another way YKW could adore himself... It's just a
fortune spent by duplication.... If the USS Enterprise
was good enough for Capt. Kirk, it's good enough for
    me!
Here's some more grist for you - My Firefox literally
wouldn't play that, but Chrome does. At the end of the
day going forward, and with a statistically insignificant
amount of effort applied with the applicable tools from
your toolbox, you should be able to make something
    efficaciously antiTrump with it.

-- bill Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.

"Evan if Trump never existed, he would still be an idea in
    the mind of God..."

Is "Semper Supra", the kind of song that could become a
    hearing aid ear worm,
I've got an anti-worm subroutine in my hearing aid
    programming.
or a tune you'd whistle while you work?
    I can't whistle............well, I can whistle, but I can't
    make a recognizable tune.
What do you think of the song, and "Space Force", as a
    former Airman?
    meh.
Myself, I think they're horning in, on past "Flyboys"
    glory....
You'll whistle a different tune when they take out a Romulan
    Bird of Prey.
The Ghost of Chas. Lindberg Jr.

-- bill Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.

The song implies that Space Force Cadets are bellicose warriors
of some kind, instead of scientists, and computer dweebs ...
Whom do you think they might be warriors against out there in
    space?
Chinese space cadets? Putin trying to annex low earth orbit?
Space Force should have been created decades ago, to combat
those alien abductions that were happening, before everybody
got phone cameras, which put an end to them, along with Elvis
    sightings... HawHawHaw!

    Flash Gordon Jr.

-- bill Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.

I wonder how Elon Musk, & other private space rovers will fit in,
with our Space Force warriors? Would they be the new, "Space
Privateers"? BTW, I thought everyone was supposed to co-operate,
out it space? FAIK, nobody is trying to shoot down anybody else's satellites?

Then you need to do more research, because as far as you know is not
far enough. This'll get you started: --------------------------------------------
Just an hour before Russian troops launched their full-scale assault
in the early hours of Feb. 24, the Kremlin successfully hacked Viasat,
an American satellite provider whose network was used by the Ukrainian military to communicate with front-line troops, according to
intelligence reports from the U.S., EU and the United Kingdom.

The cyberattack, which crippled the country’s military communications
and also took out thousands of other internet users across Europe, fast-tracked negotiations, started in early 2022, between Kyiv and
SpaceX to bring the satellite network to the country, according to
four officials with knowledge of those discussions. ---------------------------------------- https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/09/elon-musk-spacex-starlink-ukraine-00038039

    ------------------------------------------
China has launched a new satellite that analysts say can be used as a
weapon capable of grabbing and crushing American satellites.

The Shijian-21 satellite was sent aloft on Sunday atop a rocket
booster from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, ostensibly for
cleaning “space debris,” according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp, Beijing’s state-run space company. The company stated
that the satellite is “tasked with demonstrating technologies to
    alleviate and neutralize space debris.”

The robotic satellite launch followed a suspected recent test of a new hypersonic missile that Chinese officials said was a peaceful space experiment.

The commander of the U.S. Space Command, Air Force Gen. James
Dickinson told Congress in April that spacecraft like the Shijian-21
is part of an effort by China to seek “space superiority through space
    and space-attack systems.” ---------------------------------------------------------- https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/oct/25/china-launches-suspected-anti-satellite-weapon/

There's more out there. The "space war" has been underway for some
time, and there is significance in the passage of time.

Nobody has shot down any of our satellites--yet, but what if they
did? Are you prepared for that? What about jamming? Did you think of
    that? I'll bet you didn't. I didn't and I don't think I'm prepared. lol

This got me to wondering exactly what it is that they do. The
people who come along after Elon will be like anyone else with new
worlds to explore. They'll be hauling tourists and freight, but
initially the real excitement will be in mining.

    Space Force though?

"The U.S. Space Force defends our
country and freedom to operate in
space, keeping it secure, stable and
    accessible for military space power
    and new waves of innovation.

Once the new frontier, it now defines our daily lives and ways of war —
on air, land and sea. From GPS to strategic warning and satellite communications, we defend the ultimate high ground."

    "USSF Mission

The USSF is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping
Guardians to conduct global space operations that enhance the way our
joint and coalition forces fight, while also offering decision makers
military options to achieve national objectives."

This was the part they cut off:

"Air Force Space Command, activated Sept. 1, 1982, is a major command
with headquarters at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. AFSPC provides
military focused space capabilities with a global perspective to the
    joint warfighting team.

    Priorities
    1. Build Combat Readiness
    2. Innovate and Accelerate to Win
    3. Develop Joint Warfighters
    4. Organize for Sustained Success

    People
More than 26,000 space professionals worldwide."

Basically they started the thing by slicing off part of the
regular Air Force. More glory to orange jesus. They can have a whole new
batch of symbols and patches and medals and flags and songs--on and on.
More glory to orange jesus. They even have their own boot camp.

"Exclusive: Inside Space Force boot camp with recruits to US military's
    newest branch"

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/17/politics/space-force-boot-camp/index.html

Hey, it sometimes takes me awhile. I wanted the official answer
first, just for laughs. But I think I'm getting down to a real answer to
my question. All glory to Google.

"What the Space Force is, and isn't

The newest branch of the military is still mired in explaining to the
    public what it does."

"Headquartered in the Pentagon, the Space Force is an independent branch
of the military that was carved out of the Air Force beginning in
December 2019. It has its own chief of space operations, four-star Gen.
Jay Raymond, who like the heads of the five other military branches is
also a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Incoming! It is responsible for operating and defending military
satellites and ground stations that provide communications, navigation
and Earth observation, such as the detection of missile launches.

For example, it alerted U.S. troops in Iraq in January 2020 of incoming missiles so they had adequate time to take defensive measures, according
to Gen. David Thompson, its second in command.

GPS: It also operates the network of Global Positioning System, or GPS, satellites, that was originally developed by the Air Force but made
available to the public and has contributed at least $1.4 trillion alone
to the American economy, according to the National Institute of Standards
    and Technology.

“That’s everything from paying at the pump when you get gas to using
your ATM machine, your smart phone that is giving you GPS directions,” explained Air Force Col. Matt Anderson, outreach director for the Space
Force Association, a nonprofit advocacy group. “It’s no secret that
Russia and China have made extreme gains in the last couple decades and
they have actually shown the ability to threaten some of our assets in space.”

Big job: The importance of the GPS mission cannot be overstated, Wilson
said. “Why should I care? Half of the military satellites provide GPS to
the world. They give you your blue dot on your phone. Every smartphone
has a GPS receiver in it, pretty much. That doesn’t come from the
telephone company. That comes from satellites in space run by the United
States military. There’s like 34, 35 GPS satellites. That’s probably
half the satellites the military runs.”

Jammers: To deter potential enemies from trying to damage or destroy
those satellites, the Space Force also has in its arsenal a ground-based “jammer” that can block the transmissions of an adversary’s satellites. It is also believed to have at its disposal other offensive space
    capabilities.

Tracking junk: Another mission involves tracking space debris, such as satellites that are no longer in operation, discarded rocket boosters or
other “space junk” — more than 26,000 objects in all — that could interfere with other spacecraft or astronauts.

    Who’s idea was it?
There is no doubt that Trump elevated the need for an independent branch
of the armed forces dedicated to space operations. He issued a
presidential directive ordering its establishment and included it in his Pentagon budget request to Congress for fiscal year 2020.

But it was far from his idea. In fact, Democrats and Republicans had
previously been pushing for a separate “Space Corps” within the Air
Force in the face of Pentagon resistance even before Trump claimed the
    idea as his own."
