The Real Science vs. the Woke and Politically Expedient Science.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
Sex between men, not skin contact, is fueling monkeypox, new research
    suggests
The claim that skin-to-skin contact during sex between men, not
intercourse itself, drives most monkeypox transmission is likely
backward, a growing group of experts say. ---------------------------------------------------------- https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-health-and-wellness/sex-men-not-skin-contact-fueling-monkeypox-new-research-suggests-rcna43484

But hey. At the end of the day going forward there is a beacon of hope
on the horizon - the Follow the Science fiasco is about to
efficaciously evolve and become just part of the unpleasant past.
Walensky is on the job, and she's going to put every tool in her
toolbox on the table, and science messaging is transitorily on its way
to becoming literally credible again. Soon, we will no longer have to
ask ourselves when we get up every morning, "Which science, what
science, whose science should I follow today?".

Walensky, Citing Botched Pandemic Response, Calls for C.D.C.
    Reorganization

Among other flaws, the public guidance during the coronavirus pandemic
was “confusing and overwhelming,” the agency said. ---------------------------------------------------------- https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/17/us/politics/cdc-rochelle-walensky-covid.html

And it shouldn't be long before your troop of antivaxers sound off
against vaccinating against monkeypox and polio. You must be so proud.

    Oh, yeah. Here they come:

For most, the news that existing smallpox vaccines will inoculate
recipients from monkeypox is welcome news. Vaccines such as the ACAM2000
are approved and available, including in Australia. These come with
years of clinical data backing up that they’re safe and effective
treatments with known, manageable side effects.

The anti-vaccine and conspiracy movements are much less pleased. After
spending the pandemic criticising COVID-19 vaccines because they were
unproved or based on new mRNA technology, major Australian figures and
groups have seamlessly transitioned into demonising monkeypox vaccines
despite not sharing many of the qualities the movement found objectionable.

“I know I’m early but I’m also anti-monkeypox jab,” posted the Reignite World Freedom Facebook page, a global spin-off of Monica Smit’s Reignite Democracy Australian anti-vaccine group, and shared by MP-turned-blogger
    George Christensen.

“SURPRISE SURPRISE THERE’S A MONKEYPOX VACCINE,” posted David ONeeglio, an Australian conspiracy theorist and founder of the anti-vaccine flood
charity investigated by a charity watchdog, to his tens of thousands of followers on Telegram.

Some of the misinformation and rumours about the monkeypox vaccines
follow the same pattern as typical anti-vaccine rhetoric. Users in
online anti-vaccine communities frequently share content showing the vaccine’s potential side effects published by the maker, which they
claim are also, simultaneously, being covered up: “Pfizer’s long list of covid vaccine side effects (that they tried to hide),” one user wrote.

Others have baselessly speculated that the spread of monkeypox may have something to do with vaccines. One popular conspiracy theory is that
only countries that received Pfizer COVID vaccines have suffered
monkeypox outbreaks — either claiming that the vaccine somehow caused
the virus or is being used as a cover-up for vaccine side effects.

Why do you call them my troop? I'm a card-carrying Covid quadvaxxer.
