According to this article, the company was founded in the 1950's.

In the early 70's I attended a boarding school about 5 miles away in Claremont, CA. I regularly rode my bicycle to Montclair but didn't know anything about this company when I was 16 years old.

I visited the factory several years ago when I went to the Pomona RV Show. Unfortunately I ended up buying something else that was cheaper and not as good.

I called them a few months ago to ask if they would be interested in building motorhomes with slideouts but the lady who answered the phone said that existing slideout systems were still too unreliable so I didn't discuss my designs with her.

I think another problem was that they were still building on the old chassis and it would be difficult or expensive to switch to the Sprinter or Ford Transit or ProMaster chassis.

You might want to check your reading comprehension. I don't see
where you get "permanently" out of that article.

"With phone lines down, we kept looking. We finally tracked down Lazy
Daze’s service manager, Todd Miller, by email. Todd was friendly and courteous, and promised that he would touch base with the company
ownership to see if we might get some official comment. Sadly, when Todd
got back to us, the response was this: “Sorry, but the owners’ situation
is not conducive to giving any interviews or information on the closing.”

I didn't get it from that article.
I just googled "Lazy Daze" and saw on the first page that it said "Permanently Closed".

But it also says "Lazy Daze Motor Homes is permanently closed. If that's wrong, you can suggest an edit."

Thanks for the clarification. But, that's not what I get when I
    search Lazy Daze.

That's just the company's URL, not Google search results for Lazy Daze.
It looks like they no longer have a web hosting service even though their domain registration still hasn't expired.

So. Well. Then. Can this whole thread be summarized as:
We don't have nearly enough credible information to know if Lazy Daze
is or is not permanently closed.
    ?

CC&P, the oracle of RORT has already spoken on this matter. It is,
    therefore, settled.

Astute observation! I also doubt that Catmobile now wants to do any business, with Lazy Daze, even if it may be open, despite TB's toutism for the company? Catmobile's interest has already soured as a possible customer in waiting, due to
    uncertainty of Lazy Daze longevity....

I would have been interested if they were already experimenting with slide-outs and were in a process of switching to newer chassis. I don't know if the owners are looking for investors to do these things but we also know that Born Free did both of these
things and still went out of business after building their 2017 Reign 24RB on a Sprinter chassis with a slide-out.

I once lost $50,000 when a company that was building my trailer prototype went out of business. Like Born Free and Lazy Daze, that company was well known for its quality and had also been in business for over 30 years. It turned out that it was probably
a good thing I didn't spend more money on that project because the RV industry went into a slump and even some of the largest manufacturers had to file for bankruptcy or shut down a few years later.
