• THE SUFFERING!

From Technobarbarian@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jun 18 17:05:07 2022
Woe is us. Americans are "cutting back". We may have "cut back",
but we certainly have not stopped any of this. One of the nice things
about living economy class is that it's all about the same to me. If
there are fewer people in the campgrounds that would be good news for
me. I really don't expect to see that.

"Americans are starting to pull back on travel and restaurants
In a worrisome sign for the economy, U.S. consumers are beginning to
    rethink their spending on services"

"More Americans are beginning to hold off on booking flights, getting
haircuts, building backyard pools and replacing old leaky roofs — in
some of the new signs that the consumer engine of U.S. economic growth
    could be losing steam.

Over the past several weeks, households had already cut back on
big-ticket purchases because of soaring prices, but in a worrisome
twist, data suggests consumers are also beginning to tap the brakes on
dining out, vacation plans and even routine services like manicures,
hair cuts and home-cleaning appointments. Business owners around the
country say rising prices, dwindling savings and concerns of a souring
economy are taking a toll on household spending decisions.

At Olentangy Maids in Columbus, Ohio, more customers are putting off or canceling home-cleaning appointments. Some regulars are trying to
negotiate lower prices, while others have stopped tipping altogether,
    co-owner Keith Troyer said."

I don't know how anyone gets by without maid services. Do maids
have cleaning services for their homes? One of my former girlfriends had
a maid service. We frequently had to clean up the place before the maid
came in. I bought a nice clipper and stopped paying for haircuts earlier
this year. I can get a haircut anytime I want--for free! Heck, there's
    even some left to cut.

It looks like Amazon isn't the only one having problems competing
for workers. It *must* be HARD times when the middle class is having
trouble finding "good help". Maybe we should allow more people from
south of the border to come in and just put iron tracking collars on them?

Fido is so judgmental... I can’t tell just by looking at myself

Fido it beats tooling around the ghetto in your Clampett mobile of Hilly Billy fame and pretending it was your Prevost
