And the Midterms cured the Covid pandemic. The sky isn't falling anymore
    - not a peek from the Dems about masking, social distancing, or getting
jabbed. Fauci has disappeared even with CNN reporting this.

(CNN) Americans entered Memorial Day weekend with the United States at
five times the level of Covid-19 infection compared with this time last
year. Cases continue to rise in most parts of the country, driven by the
very contagious BA.2.12.1 subvariant. At the same time, many more people
    are returning to pre-pandemic activities.

Covid isn't nearly as mysterious, or frightening, as it was before vaccinations... Half the country is now vaccinated, and there's plenty of home tests... In fact, the latest version of it appears to be far milder than a couple of years ago? New
fears seem to be the scariest fears....

J.orange never understood "flattening the curve". Infections are
up. Hospitalizations are down. Thanks to: vaccines, antiviral drugs that
were not previously available and natural immunity we are not currently
in danger of overwhelming our hospitals Thanks to the precautions we
took we didn't have large numbers of people dying because they couldn't
get proper care. That happened, but it was not nearly as wide spread as
    it could have been.

Even though we had over a million people die from Covid in this
country alone, we will always have idiots who insist that the pandemic
was no big deal. OTOH and IIRC J.orange is the only person here who has.
been talking about the "sky falling" due to Covid. I don't think he
found anyone here who would agree with that.

and we just ignored them and the governments, local, state, and national
had enough sense to not try to enforce them.

If all the Leftist BS "Science" was true two years ago why isn't it
still true now? Infections are 5 times higher now than they were at this
time last year and no one is claiming the sky is falling and we need to

Why? The midterms are approaching and mentioning Covid might remind
folks just how fucked up Left's response was for two years. Take no
drastic action and Covid would decimate the population.

Oklahoma, Florida, and others mostly ignored the Left's alarm tactics of
rules and regulations and we fared about as well as other places which
did all that shit - and more...

Five times as many cases now as we had this time last year. So much for flattening the curve.

Hey. Forget Covid. That's old worn out science. Start worrying about >monkeypox. It's the fresh new opportunity to control people. It's time
to reboot most of the old bullshit under a new name. Disease Bullshit 2.0.

Wash your hands to Happy Birthday.
    Sanitize everything you can reach.

    Don't wear somebody else's shirt.
    Don't hug anybody.
Open your mail with latex talcum-free gloves

Follow the science - if you can find it.
In an abundance of caution, everything is on the table.
So don't worry. Be happy. Your government is looking out for you.

While J.orange was sleeping the world changed. We got vaccines. We
got new anti-viral drugs and many people developed something that few
people, if any, had developed, "Natural immunity" to the Covid virus,
because they encountered the virus for the first time in their life,

Almost no one was predicting the sky was falling simply because a
2% mortality rate doesn't translate to the end of the world. It makes a
    great straw-man argument though.

So now infections are indeed going up. Hospitalizations are NOT particularly high right now. The hospitalization rate is still well
within what our health care can handle--now.

On his way to yet another ridiculous conspiracy J.orange manages
to miss a lot of facts. My favorite one, yet again.

In Oregon where we had a high degree of compliance with safety
efforts we had a fairly low death rate--1,812 per million population
Only 6 states have a lower death rate. OTOH in states where idiots brag
about non-compliance they have higher death rates. Oklahoma's death rate
is just slightly more than double what we experienced in Oregon.

While I'm on the subject I'm reminded of J.orange's prediction
that there would be fewer deaths in rural areas. Because we had so many
rural people join the death cult their deaths were significantly higher
than the national average. Yeah, that dumb shit has it all figured out. lol

folks just how fucked up Left's response was for two years. Take no
drastic action and Covid would decimate the population.

Oklahoma, Florida, and others mostly ignored the Left's alarm tactics of rules and regulations and we fared about as well as other places which
did all that shit - and more...

Five times as many cases now as we had this time last year. So much for flattening the curve.

    Let's go Brandon!

More science - but you probably knew this already:

The well documented association between obesity and the severity of
SARS-CoV-2 infection raises the question of whether adipose tissue (AT)
is impacted during this infection. Using a model of SARS-CoV-2 infection
in cynomolgus macaques, we detected the virus within subcutaneous AT
(SCAT) but not in visceral AT (VAT) or epicardial AT on day 7
post-infection. We sought to determine the mechanisms responsible for
this selective detection and observed higher levels of angiotensin-converting-enzyme-2 mRNA expression in SCAT than in VAT.
Lastly, we evaluated the immunological consequences of SARS-CoV-2
infection on AT: both SCAT and VAT T cells showed a drastic reduction in
CD69 expression, a standard marker of resident memory T cell in tissue,
that is also involved in the migratory and metabolic properties of T
cells. Our results demonstrate that in a model of mild infection, SCAT
is selectively infected by SARS-CoV-2 although changes in the immune
properties of AT are observed in both SCAT and VAT.

My favorite was the doctor who told us that the Navy had figured
out that scare tactics didn't work, so they weren't doing that anymore.
He then launched into slides of the goriest collection of VD symptoms I
have ever seen. The one I remember was a guy who had been fingering a
woman and smoking a cigarette at the same time. The end of his tongue
    had rotted off.

It didn't work. I was still going bareback. After being careless
all over Asia the only thing I caught was a drip from a honey here in
the States. OTOH I don't smoke cigarettes in or out of bed.

J.orange never understood "flattening the curve". Infections are
up. Hospitalizations are down. Thanks to: vaccines,

Thanks to Trump's operation warp speed, we have had vaccines for nearly
    two years now.

About all the orange idiot had to do with it is standing around,
running his mouth, and telling everyone the virus would just magically disappear.

"Oregon Cases of COVID-19 Climbed in Late May
A smaller wave with fewer hospitalizations continues.

    "By Rachel Monahan
    June 04, 2022 at 10:07 pm PDT

The number of COVID-19 cases in Oregon increased by 24% during the two
weeks from May 16 to 29, over the prior biweekly period, according to
Oregon Health Authority data released June 2.

During the same two weeks, the number of new hospitalizations more than doubled—to 549 versus 208 in the prior period.

The pandemic continues, though this wave has been less dramatic and less
    deadly than past ones.

“The increases we are seeing with COVID-19 cases statewide confirm that
the virus is still widespread through Oregon, even though many of us are
ready to move on,” said Dr. Paul Cieslak, OHA’s medical director for communicable diseases and immunizations, in a June 2 statement. “With
our health care partners, we continue to monitor hospitalization numbers
that are rising gradually. We anticipate, based on the latest modeling,
that hospitalizations will peak around the second week of June and then
    start to come down.”

Multnomah County earlier this month urged people to wear masks indoors
and recommended against public gatherings. But it didn’t unpack any of
    its previous mandates or restrictions.

“We have vaccines, we have antivirals, we can mask,” says Jennifer
Vines, the tri-county public health officer. “There are other ways that
we can blunt the disruption and harm from a virus wave that don’t
involve these heavy restrictions that we know are so incredibly hard for people.”

Instead, officials ask people to weigh their own risks, and take extra precautions if they’re worried.

As some in Portland get sick for the first time, Vines says they’re not
to blame—but rather the way the virus has evolved to be ever more
    contagious.

“People can do everything right, and they can still get infected,” Vines says. “The good news is, if they’re vaccinated they’re very unlikely to have severe illness.”"

The pandemic continues, though this wave has been less dramatic and less deadly than past ones.

“The increases we are seeing with COVID-19 cases statewide confirm that
the virus is still widespread through Oregon, even though many of us are ready to move on,” said Dr.

As some in Portland get sick for the first time, Vines says they’re not
to blame—but rather the way the virus has evolved to be ever more contagious.

“People can do everything right, and they can still get infected,” Vines says. “The good news is, if they’re vaccinated they’re very unlikely to have severe illness.”"

I allege that they're statistically likely already pondering how to

    I myownself don't need 'em...............yet. It's been years since I
peed in my continence pants, and it was literally transitory by any
metric. Not only that, but it was the result of the unfortunate near-simultaneous convergence of a number of inefficacious factors
which are unlikely to converge again in what's left of my lifetime.
However comma I've heard that the significance of the passage of time
is significant, so I'm not going to become complacent.

By the way......I ordered some groceries from Walmart today for pickup
next week. They didn't have my Pibb. Is it likely that Pibb is made by
the same people that make fly formula?

driven by the very contagious BA.2.12.1 subvariant. At
the same time, many more people are returning to
    pre-pandemic activities.

Win or lose (lose, I hope), they will return to their sky

I allege that they're statistically likely already pondering
how to exploit and leverage monkeypox to their advantage at
the end of the day going forward. And at least this time,
they'll have some justification for sanitizing every
available accessible surface. One of the things on the table
might even be firing up a smallpox vax campaign.

I'm not even going to ask how they're going to handle the
    current science of:
    --------------------------------------------------------------

Based on currently available information, cases have mainly but not
exclusively been identified amongst men who have sex with men
(MSM) seeking care in primary care and sexual health
    clinics.
    --------------------------------------------------------------

but in today's social environment, I'll bet that gives them some hot
    potato heartburn.

Yeah, but what about monkeypox? You think a jock strap or

efficacious? How about off-label use of rubber incontinence

I was told today that a small pox vaccination will protect people
from monkey pox... Wonder how long a small pox vaccination might
be good for? My last SP vac, was 1966....

From what I've read, its efficaciousness is all used up by now. Until
Biden comes up with Operation Warp Fly Vax, I'd recommend that you
stay away from monkeys. And flies.

Man, you're not only not keeping up, but at the end of the day going

history. In 2001, the black monolith on the Moon told Coca-Cola to

Yeah, but what about monkeypox? You think a jock strap or athletic
cup (it'd be sort of a pecker mask) would be efficacious? How about
off-label use of rubber incontinence pants?

I think it's OK if you use rubber incontinence pants without the label. >>>
    I myownself don't need 'em...............yet. It's been years since I
peed in my continence pants, and it was literally transitory by any
metric. Not only that, but it was the result of the unfortunate
near-simultaneous convergence of a number of inefficacious factors
which are unlikely to converge again in what's left of my lifetime.
However comma I've heard that the significance of the passage of time
is significant, so I'm not going to become complacent.

By the way......I ordered some groceries from Walmart today for pickup
next week. They didn't have my Pibb. Is it likely that Pibb is made by
the same people that make fly formula?

That’s Mister Pibb to you, Bub.

Man, you're not only not keeping up, but at the end of the day going
forward, you've fallen farther/further behind than anyone in all of
history. In 2001, the black monolith on the Moon told Coca-Cola to
pivot, triangulate, and rename Mr Pibb to Pibb Xtra. And they did. By my calculus, that was literally about 21 years ago, and the significance of
time is significant by any metric.

If you think that's fake news, try to order a Mister Pibb from Walmart
and see what pops (no pun intended) up. Meanwhile, I've become so
familiar with Pibb Xtra, I just call it by its first name, "Pibb".

No wonder you need pants (labeled or unlabeled) to put your continence in.
