We're probably going to have a 3 way race for governor here. The
not very "independent" candidate can't even start collecting signatures
yet for her petition for a place on the ballot. She obviously can't win.

I tried to find an example of her campaign ads. They're very
combative. For example she says "Betsy Johnson won’t give up on Oregon without a fight." That should work well with some of the Republicans.
Most of us seem to think Oregon is doing pretty good without the need
for a fight. I signed an initiative petition that should take care of
the problem Betsy was alluding to. If it passes politicians who
disappear during a legislative session so they can jam up the works will
lose their job. That will do more than Betsy could do if she won the
    position.

"Oregon’s independent gubernatorial hopeful Betsy Johnson is among the state’s most elite firearms enthusiasts: machine gun owners
    Updated: May. 31, 2022, 6:49 p.m. | Published: May. 31, 2022, 5:39 p.m."

"Oregon gun owners number in the hundreds of thousands, perhaps more —
no one tracks overall firearm ownership in the state.

But the federal government does track the subset of Oregonians who own
machine guns, and in 2021, they numbered 6,740. Among their ranks:
former longtime Democratic lawmaker Betsy Johnson, now running as an unaffiliated candidate for governor.

Johnson’s steadfast opposition to gun safety regulations is well-known,
as is her status as a gun owner and collector. Less well-known is the
fact that Johnson owns a Cold War-era submachine gun."

You're just using different words to say the same thing I said.
Either way it isn't good news for her campaign. The last candidate the Republicans ran was even more moderate than Betsy or the Republican's
current candidate and he lost by 8 percentage points. The retrumplican candidates you would like didn't even break into double digit numbers in
    the primary election.

I couldn't care less about the Oregon governor's race. Now, US House of Representatives and the Senate are a different story. Although, since
Oregon representation is mostly democrats and you people have never
learned from your mistakes, I don't expect much to change there.

I love machine guns! I've shot several of them, from the .50 caliber, down to a 9mm, H&K 91 sub-machine gun, which is my favorite! Fortunately, someone else always paid for my machine gun shooting! They can burn through a fortune in ammo, quicker
than one can say, "Jack Robinson"! An M-60 can shoot 600 rds per minute of .308 cartridges! That's 30 boxes of ammo, @ around $25, for a 20 rd box!

Before CA outlawed machine guns, I knew a local gun shop guy that had a few. He had to store them in a concrete bunker with a thick steel door, to prevent theft... Irv was really pissed about that new law! He packed up his machine guns, and moved
    to Idaho!

That's the same way I felt about my Ruger mini-14. It was good fun
to shoot, but it got to be expensive fast. My compound bow isn't as
exciting and dynamic to shoot, but it's a lot cheaper. I recently bought
some fancy arrows. $17 each. It feels like throwing 20 dollar bills
around. They're fun, but they aren't twice as good as the arrows I buy
    for about half of that.

Archers can be just as intense about their hobby as gun owners,
but I don't hear anyone grumbling about "bow grabbers".
