My wife and I just had a strange and pleasant experience that I
think of as deluxe boondocking. I am not one of the people who thinks
you're "boondocking" if you don't have hookups. To be really boondocking
you have to be away from other people and most signs of civilization,
except the road you used to get there, and that road probably isn't paved.
On the north side of the river the pavement and the road ends at
the Kilchis River County Park. This is a lovely little park with 43
camping sites and no hookups, except for the park host. Except for the
park host we were the only ones there last night and she was on the
other side of the campground. From around 6PM Sunday until 11:30AM the
next morning we didn't see or hear another human being. It was quieter
than any of our planned boondocking trips. The last time we were there
it was during a heatwave. Both the day use area and the campground had
been full. This time was a little spooky and very nice.
