• Elon - Where Are You?

From kmiller@21:1/5 to All on Mon May 2 18:02:14 2022
Hey, Elon! You should buy Google immediately. They're trampling all over
their employee's right to free speech. Hell, they even fired one today.
We can't let them get away with this. We gotta do something!

Maybe in his dreams. It's unlikely that he can really afford
Twitter and there's only about a 50/50 chance that he'll go through with
that deal. Meta's market cap is $570+ Billion.

"The flawed math behind Elon Musk’s Twitter deal
An overleveraged billionaire’s bid for an overvalued company may signal
the last gasp in an age of magical thinking about markets"

"A cocky, publicity-seeking libertarian billionaire bets virtually all
of his stock in his overvalued electric car company to finance a highly leveraged, $44 billion hostile takeover of an overvalued, money-losing
social media platform, on which he boasts 84 million followers.

It’s hard to imagine a megadeal that better captures the absurdity of
the era in American finance than Elon Musk’s ploy for Twitter.

The only plot twist making for a better tale of speculative excess would
be if Musk, a crypto evangelist, had arranged to pay in bitcoin.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that we will come to see
this deal as a market top, when sky-high valuations and
over-indebtedness reach a convulsive crescendo in a megadeal driven by
hype, overconfidence and ego. In many respects, it is reminiscent of
AOL’s disastrous takeover of Time Warner two months before the massive
tech and telecom bubble burst in the spring of 2000.

At some point in the not-too-distant future — once the hype has finally drained from the tech-crazy stock market and defaults start to roil the overleveraged credit markets, once housing prices fall back to earth and
the crypto fantasy is dispelled, once we’ve settled into an extended
period of stagflation — people will look back at this moment and say,
    “What were they smoking.”"

I think you'll enjoy the math. It's much too complex for our
    resident idiots.

Short translation for our resident idiots: "It isn't Christmas
yet, there may not be any "Christmas" and "Santa" isn't real. <dark
    sardonic laughter>

Hey. STFU you dumbass damPNWester. Why would you want Elon to risk overextending himself before he gets you hooked up to the sky? That's counterefficacious by any metric. Besides, Google is gonna shoot
theirownselves in the algorithm if they keep firing Indians and wimmen
just because they disagree with them. Don't they have a John Smith or
a Bob Jones that needs firing because they might be homophobic white nationalist redneck cracker extremist Trumpies with a 6pak of Bud
Light and a pistol permit.............and maybe even a MAGA cap under
    the truck seat?

I literally just don't like it - within any context of beer consumption.

    gack.

"Lite/Light" beer shouldn't really be called beer. I'd just as soon
drink water. It has even fewer calories.
