"What recession? Jobs numbers point to solid growth

Over the last few months, the great debate has been over whether 2021's hyper-growth will end with a soft landing — a gradual slowdown — or a
hard landing that becomes a nasty recession.

The June employment numbers raise the question of if the plane is even
    landing at all.

Why it matters: Policymakers are looking for more moderate job creation
as the economy cools, lowering inflation pressures. Instead, the labor
    market remains robust.

That eases recession fears for now, but it also raises the risk that the
Fed will maintain an aggressive approach to raising interest rates.
Driving the news: Employers added 372,000 jobs last month, roughly
100,000 more than Wall Street economists expected. The unemployment rate
    was unchanged at 3.6%.

Between the lines: This is an unusual moment, in which even politicians
are looking for a slowdown in jobs."

"It's a good reminder that for all the focus on a handful of hiring
freezes and layoffs at some buzzy companies, most U.S. businesses are
still hiring aggressively to meet high demand."

less likely by the day that Elon will be buying. Even with help from
Twitter he still hasn't been able to figure out how many fake accounts

We have more of everything than ever before.

I guess that's why the vast majority are so optimistic about the economy: ---------------------------------------------------------------
Pessimism about the U.S. economy is at its highest level in 50 years
amid decades-high inflation rates and rising interest rates.

Roughly 83% of respondents said the state of the economy was poor or
not so good, according to a new poll from the Wall Street Journal and
NORC at the University of Chicago. That’s the highest dissatisfaction
level since NORC—one of the largest independent research organizations
in the U.S.—began conducting the poll in 1972.

In addition, more than a third of respondents said they are not
satisfied at all with their financial situation. Forty-six percent
said they have no chance at improving their standard of living this
year, and 38% said their financial situation is worse now than it was
in the past few years—the first time since the aftermath of the global financial crisis in 2008, according to WSJ’s reporting. ------------------------------------------------------------------ https://fortune.com/2022/06/06/economy-disatisfaction-record-high-poll-inflation-interest-rates-biden/

And why they're so pleased with Biden's handling of the economy: -----------------------------------------------------------------
But approval of Biden’s handling of the economy is at 29%, and his
handling of inflation is even lower, at 23%. ---------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/first-read/bidens-economic-handling-hits-rock-bottom-new-poll-rcna33875

Do you ever look around yourself and notice that the cars keep
getting better, and fancier? Maybe that isn't happening where you live.
It certainly is here. Around here junkers have all but completely
disappeared to someone's backyard. Most of the "junkers" around me are
old jeeps that are someone's hobby. We do have one old lady who is
likely to be the original owner of her 70's era Plymouth. Who knows? She
might put 50 miles a month on it. It looks like most of what she needs
comes to her. Everywhere I go I see just an amazing amount of tools and
toys. You name it: homes, cars, trucks, pickups (Oh my, the amazing
pickups, picking up a few groceries.) boats, RVs? They're all getting
bigger and/or fancier, and there are more of them all the time.

Fun example of more: The last time I had been at Fort Rock, a
couple of decades ago, I think there was a gravel parking lot and maybe
a porta-potty. This time there was a "host" with a single wide and
restrooms with regular plumbing. They've built a sheltered area with
tables and interpretive signs. That wasn't even the best part. The best
example of more was the guys with 4 wheel drive vehicles and heavy-duty glorified tear drop trailers. A really "rugged" bunch, or something.

So far this year  used RV prices (at auction by dealers) is down, registrations of new RVs is down and the backlog of orders is steeply declining.
This all points to RV sales going more "balanced" that is where the
buyer and the seller are on a more equal power position . As opposed to
2021 where the seller had the controlling position

I've sort of been in the market for an upgrade since before the
pandemic started. I'm a bargain hunter so I usually don't even bother to
look at prices this time of year. Based on your information I took a
quick look at Craig's list. OMG There *might* be some bargains out there somewhere, but they appear to be few and far between. I thought this was
    an outstanding example.

It looks like part of the problem with wholesale prices declining
it that they're declining from a ridiculous level. From my point of view
prices have a long way to go before they get back to planet Earth.

And the campgrounds are all still busy. The biggest real change
that I actually see is that smaller rigs have become much more popular
than they used to be. That has been happening since before gas prices
jumped again. Most of those rigs have *ALL* the bells and whistles,
including slides. There are still plenty of big rigs out there too.

Not just the choir - most of the congregation, too, at the First

And, they believe much more fervently in their God of Big Government
watching over and taking care of them than almost any Evangelical
    Christian believes in their God.

Christians will try to convince you that their path is the right path,
whereas the Democraptists are quite willing the have Big Government
force you into following their path. They are as sure of the
righteousness of their religion, and as closed minded, as the most
    radical Islamic sects.

Christians are, for the most part, harmless but the Progressive
Democrats are a scourge upon our country. Luckily more and more people
are waking up to that fact and are beginning to push back against the Progressive's idea of Utopia.

These people are in lock step with Biden already. It's not like he is
taking votes away from Trump with this. Maybe he is hoping for some of
    the Robert Kennedy, jr. votes?
