I thought this was a throwaway article at first. Some poor fool
stating the obvious because he had to say something. Until I got to a
    key paragraph.

"Absurd trucker convoy jamming up the Capital Beltway has me rooting for
    higher gas prices

The truckers who make up the People's Convoy driving in circles around Washington, D.C., are making it hard for people who write satire."

"Consider this actual quote from an actual human member of the Freedom
Convoy who says his name is Stan. This was on a podcast run by Steve
Bannon, who, speaking of self-satirization, is a former White House
strategist. The podcast is called “War Room,” because of course it is,
and on a recent episode Stan is asked what people in the convoy really want:

"“We want to go back to the way it was before the COVID stuff.
Personally, me, I’d like to go back before 9/11, the Patriot Act. Things
like that. It’s just very tyrannical type stuff. It’s government
overreach. And that’s what we’re all about. Sure, the mask things and
the shots and all this, they’re… I’m trying to think of the right word. They’re the easy thing to talk about, but it’s all the other things
behind the scenes. … We have freedom. They’re trying to take it away,
and we’re gonna stop ’em. We’re gonna take our freedom back to where it was before.”"

I think Stan nailed it. A lot of people want to return to some
mythical past. I think this is why "progressives" piss off
conservatives. While they're longing for the past the progressives are
saying, "Nope, the only way you can go is forward." "You can't ever go
    home again".

"Well, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."
We're all forced to be time travelers, like it or not. I'm protesting
against the tyranny of the clock. Except that the clock obviously is not listening and will not give in to my demands. I guess I need to go to DC
    and protest there. lol

    https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2022/03/07/kimmitt-ukraine-strategy-russia-convoy-kyiv-sot-newday-vpx.cnn

I could be wrong, but I think the meaning of "freedom" is shifting
a bit right in front of us. Sort of the way it means something different
now when I see someone flying a flag.

That's why I look at "conservatives", as modern day Ghost Dancers, who seem to believe if they're pious, & patriotic enough, they can somehow return to a mythical past, more to their liking, and be free from liberal notions....

I seldom say "gay". I never did see the need to stop using the correct
    term, "homosexual".
